He's alluding to the fact that Bama claims titles from the 40's and 50's when there were multiple outlets that awarded titles.

If the AP and Coaches Poll named USC the champion of the 1957 season (hypothetically) but the Sportswriters of America named Alabama the champ, Alabama hangs a banner for that season.

There are multiple intances where different outlets named them as champions when there wasn't consensus. One of the disadvantages of the former poll system.

I gotcha. I was alluding to the fact that our first SEC visitor claimed an obscene amount of national championships and frequently responded with "please explain." I doubt anyone who joined here after 05/06 would remember him. Good response nonetheless.

He also shared more than we wanted to know about his cheese issues.

- The "SEC" chant. The dumbest chant in all of sports.

I couldn't agree more.

- I might catch some flack for this, but I have a major beef with "Hang On Sloopy" only being played after the 3rd quarter is done for football games or after the last TV timeout in the 2nd half in basketball, and then making it a big [censored]ing deal that they're playing it... "Everybody stand up, it's time for Hang On Sloopy!" C'mon. Play it a few times randomly throughout the game to get people up and having fun like its supposed to be done. The tradition is to play the song, not to turn it into "Jump Around". Freaking kills me.

I've often thought the same thing when sitting in the stands.
