American Idol is just the sloppy-seconds of the UK's Pop Idol, not to mention lowest-common-denominator fare that rewards the blandest contestant over those with any speck of unique individual style... AI viewers may as well be watching studio execs sitting around a table trying to reach a consensus on the next big thing, with top-40 "hits" playing in the background.

so thats why the gray headed "old" guy with a large personality and unique style is the frontrunner. :(

me to, I suppose. I looks to me that Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Bo Bice and all the others that made it so I'm a sucker for being hooked to the most popular show on tv right now. Chris Daughtry will make it big, he kinda reminds me of the lead singer of Staind.

Who gives a fuck? If you don't like it.....don't watch it. If you do..........watch it for christs' sake. There is no sense in arguing over it. Some people don't get into it....but then listen to top 40 radio, it's the same concept. Some people hate top 40, but watch it for shits and giggles. I'll admit that I watch it, who cares? Sadly, I don't even like any of the music that any of them sing. It's just a mindless form of entertainment that I watch for an hour or so every week.........like most tv.

I do not plan to watch AI. Hell, there aren't too many shows that I do plan to watch since most shows suck!

I have seen a few of the AI shows this season. Enough to say that McPhee is nice on the eyes! The gray-haired dude seems to really "feel" the music/song unlike the others. The dude with the English teeth (Elliot??) sucks and the shaved head dude (Chris??) was pretty good.

Ironically, the only time I see AI is when I am not coaching one of my boys baseball games and we are home and they initiate watching it. It is time with my sons, watching what they want to watch that matters. That and the fact that I still control the remote so I can flip over and check the Indians game whenever I want which they don't mind that either.

I watched it tonight for the first time, and to be quite honest I wasn't very impressed with everyone. I mean all three of the contestants were good, but they weren't as "great" as they were hyped up to be.

I really didn't like the type of music they chose at all, tonight. It was kind of like a soul thing almost.

The only performance that really stood out for me was Katherine's Somewhere Over The Rainbow. I don't think she missed a single note.
