More Impressive: USC or Texas

Who was more impressive today?

USC should have been ahead by far more than 25ish at halftime. UCLA did not stop them, they stopped themselves. (Leinart, Jarrett dropsies... he is a stud but has dropped some easy ones everytime I've watched them this year).

USC was impressive today. But Texas was unstoppable in all facets of the game.

I was disappointed Lendale didn't toss his record setting ball to Snoop.

USC. Their defense played amazingly against one of the best QBs and offenses in the country. UCLA has no defense...but it's never easy to get 66 points when your QB is having an off day. Texas did really well, but Colorado has been playing horrible lately, and is not even close to as good as UCLA.

UCLA just proved how pathetic the competition in the Pac-10 was. Their 2 losses were by a combined 85 points. The Big 12 is a joke, too. I believe, now, that we could beat any team in the country. It's unfortunate that it took us a little too long to start generating some offense. So, I don't think that USC or UT is that great. Hell, I think that PSU could beat them both, too.

At first I thought, "these are two terriffic teams, but their schedules cause you to scratch your head and wonder. Can any one in the Pac 10 play defense? Is there anyone, besides Texas, in the Big 12 worthy of consideration for a BCS berth? Without any real competition out side of the OSU - Texas game, these two teams haven't had to show much to win... they did dominate in their big rivalry games."

But therein lies the answer, no one but OSU, pushed Texas or even threatened them, but USC got pushed several times, not the least by Fresno and had the ref made the "aiding the runner" call on Bush, USC would have lost at South Bend. Bush impresses me, especially when he went airborn from the 8 yd line and still managed to get into the endzone, but I don't think he can consistently find holes in Texas line to run through, nor can he get wide against the speed of Texas' linebackers. USC's defense looked good to me but I kept thinking that these guys gave up a ton of points to some very mediocre teams all year long. I like Texas.

Well, I think Texas was more betterer (Sorry TGo5, these guys obviously are not educated good).

Colorado entered the game with the #2 rushing defense (79 yds/game) and ranked #33 in total defense (335 yds/game). They were #62 in total offense (365 yds/ game).

UCLA was vastly, vastly over-rated. Goodness, guys, UCLA entered this game ranked #102 in the NCAA on total defense (435 yds/game) and #115 out of 117 in rushing defense (219 yds/game). UCLA were #18 in total offense (444 yards/game).
  • UCLA's opponents were 45-65 entering this game, not including USC.
  • Colorado's opponents were 56-56, not including Texas.
  • Their relative SOS was Colorado #29 and UCLA #54 entering the game.
  • UCLA gave up more than 30 points a game, Colorado only 19.
So, how in the heck does UCLA even get close to being rated a top 15 team on that performance?

Bush is a great player and I take nothing away from him but, gee, Bush looks unstoppable yesterday? So what? A lot of guys here on BP might enjoy reliving their college days running behind that line against that defense.

Texas has an exceptional defense (ranked #8 in total defense). USC doesn't (ranked #43). There is 150 yards/game difference between them with comparable schedules (even though Texas' played arguably better defenses).

I think Texas played more betterer :tongue2: yesterday and I think this NC game is going to be a lot less close than most folks think it will be.

Actually, I think they said it best!

I went with USC only because they dominated a vastly superior team as compared to Colorado.

Colorado had no business being there.

I do think Texas beats USC in the title game though.
