Maybe we should ferret out all the fuckers on this site that were bitching about Herbstreit, and send their IP addresses to Herbstreit so he could have police investigators track their asses down. Think I'm fucking joking?
I've known about this for a while now and it really bothered me when I was told that Kirk felt that it might be safer for his family to move out of C-bus. These so-called fans can kiss my fuckin ass and they only say stupid shit like this b/c Kirk is and always will be a BIGGER BUCKEYE than ANY of them. They only wish they could be in his shoes! FUCK EM ALL! I'll look at that thread and personally call em out only b/c Kirk is in a position where he has to swallow this BS and can't speak his mind. He'd KICK all their asses if he were alone with them!

``I understand the fan's mentality, but ESPN is not out to hurt Ohio State,'' he said.

If Herbie believes this, then he is either very, very naive, badly misinformed, or simply not truthful.

As for those who threatened him, I hope that they will be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Herbie has been a true Buckeye. And this is a very difficult situation for him.

Columbus should be very pleased when someone of the national media decides to make his home there. He and his family should be treasured.

That said, however, Herbie needs to really consider the motivations of ESPiN, or at least of the people inside ESPiN. He's right, they don't care if its OSU, Tennessee or whoever, they just want someone to run down and paint as a bad guy to build their traffic.

They may not be out to get OSU but they are out to further their interests and attacking OSU is the vehicle they intend to use to accomplish their goals. Herbie needs to make his position clear on the allegations when he broadcasts the Alamo Bowl.

"Think I'm fucking joking?"

No, but the police might, when you email them a list of IPs like some sort of junior-detective-wannabe; I'm sure they've got all the evidence they need from the emails/letters Herbie received. Besides, people who make written threats are less likely to actually become violent; it's those quiet ones you should worry about...

Mili,

I didn't see any death threats in any of those messages. The cops aren't going to investigate somebody saying disparaging things only about Herbie.

I always questioned those who questioned Herbie's "allegiance". He bleeds more scarlet and gray than you know - for crying out loud - he was the QB of the football team!?!? idiots..... or eeeeeddddeeeeooooottttsss

and oh BTW - Herbie is not Guilty by association you freakin retards.

That dude loves the university - you should all be happy he is on t.v. and if you can't take some of the negative over all the positive that brings... you need your head examined.

Herbie rules.

AK--I stand by my statements in that thread. Some of you veterans were being total jerks, and re-reading it has not changed my mind. Maybe Mili should send my IP to the pigs since I feel Herbie is not always truly objective (like with the grudge he currently holds against AG)? Good thing I work with a hundred lawyers, so they can shield me when my workplace gets raided...

That article just goes to show you how ignorant some fans can be. The guy has a good gig going on at ESPN, and some of the "fans" want him to quit just because of the allegations that a writer oh behalf of the company he works for wrote? Who fucking cares, grow up and quit your whining about ESPN. Maybe if we weren't such easy targets we wouldn't be having this discussion. Do you think that articles like this help out the cause of OSU fans? Rabid fans like this make us look like a bunch of fucking lunatics who feel that there is a huge conspiracy going on, I'm not one of them. I'm not dogging OSU, because I simply love everything affiliated the university, but you are flat out blind and ignorant to think that everything is fine and peachy in our program. You'd have a hard time finding a clean division 1 football program, well at least one that wins.

If anyone on this site is guilty of those letters I simply want to tell you that you are a fucking idiot, and need to find better things to do with your aggression. Last time I checked there is a war being fought in Iraq.

Herbie is just doing his job and providing for his family, leave the guy be.

Now we've an internet legal tough guy.... this might be a first. :wink2:

Hey... I was just making fun of 'its the quiet ones you have to worry about...
" :) ... I don't care what you think about Herbstriet as it relates to his broadcasting ability... I really don't... Besides, no one threatened anyone on that thread.... even that idiot Penguin had to tell someone to 'eat shit and live'...

Some of you veterans were being total jerks, and re-reading it has not changed my mind.

Maybe so-- but who started it? and then kept it going and going and going because they couldn't handle the criticism of thier opinion. (and no... I don't mean you)

I do think people tend to forget that just because you have an opinion, doesn't make it valid... especially if you express that opinion in a less than respectful tone... The veterans do not generally smack the newbies around because they are newbies... they do it because they are acting like idiots.

How true. Yet that makes the veterans "elitist". Please. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even Herbie, when he says that ESPN does not have an agenda. It frankly pisses me off that so many people think Herbie isn't a true Buckeye - I honestly don't know what else the guy can do. The fact that he feels his family is threatened - basically over the MoC saga - is ridiculous and pathetic. That little chicken-fucker (MoC) is still stirring the pot. May he roast in hell.

Actually, any opinion is valid, just not necessarily right. That's where the discussion comes in...

I'd get out your dictionary and look up "valid" if I were you... because I'm pretty sure you don't mean what you just said.

Merriam Webster:

Main Entry: val·id
Pronunciation: 'va-l&d
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle French or Medieval Latin; Middle French valide, from Medieval Latin validus, from Latin, strong, from valEre
1 : having legal efficacy or force; especially : executed with the proper legal authority and formalities <a valid contract>
2 a : well-grounded or justifiable : being at once relevant and meaningful <a valid theory> b : logically correct <a valid argument> <valid inference>
3 : appropriate to the end in view : EFFECTIVE <every craft has its own valid methods>
4 of a taxon : conforming to accepted principles of sound biological classification
- va·lid·i·ty /v&-'li-d&-tE, va-/ noun
- val·id·ly /'va-l&d-lE/ adverb
synonyms VALID, SOUND, COGENT, CONVINCING, TELLING mean having such force as to compel serious attention and usually acceptance. VALID implies being supported by objective truth or generally accepted authority <a valid reason for being absent> <a valid marriage>. SOUND implies a basis of flawless reasoning or of solid grounds <a sound proposal for reviving the economy>. COGENT may stress either weight of sound argument and evidence or lucidity of presentation <the prosecutor's cogent summation won over the jury>. CONVINCING suggests a power to overcome doubt, opposition, or reluctance to accept <a convincing argument for welfare reform>. TELLING stresses an immediate and crucial effect striking at the heart of a matter <a telling example of bureaucratic waste>.

Since an opinion is specific to a person, then all of those terms you highlighted are just as applicable to that individual. For example, an opinion of mine (while obviously illogical to you) is completely "well-grounded or justifiable" according to my own personal experiences. And since we're all the aggregates of our varied individual experiences and consciousness, and since even dictionary-defined language does not inherently carry universal meaning, we can discuss our differing opinions to try to reach some sort of consensus.

But really, I'm glad I'm not the only one who busts out the dictionary when trying to settle a disagreement :wink2: .
