More driving pet-peeves...

We have problems with people parking their cars in the right lane and putting their hazard lights on in front of stores because they are too fucking lazy to find a parking spot -- so they just park IN THE LANE! (usually in front of liquor stores) Unbelievable. Then everyone driving in that lane has to merge over, creating a huge clusterfuck.

This is what Dunkin Donuts does to society -- it creates lazy fatasses. :mad1:
i like driving in boston because medians/breakdown lanes become lanes of traffic at rushour, a three lane freeway becomes 5 all of a sudden around 430 and by 515 people are driving on the grass down the freeway.

 My wife and I couldn't help notice just how many Dunkin Donuts there were in Boston. You've got to have the highest DD-to-population ratio in the world!

No doubt. Anywhere you go in Boston you are a block away from at least 2 or 3 Dunkin Donuts. The only city that might have more per person is Providence. They even have Dunkin Donuts Arena.

jimotis -- the breakdown lane thing scares me a bit. What if there's an actual breakdown and someone needs that lane? Now you have a real mess (or accident).

I know what a "Yield" sign means, but that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Unless traffic is stopped on the freeway, you can merge immediately. I should have said "people who don't accelerate enough to merge into traffic, and are forced to stop at the yield sign."

When it's bumper to bumper rush hour, you can't just stick your ass out into traffic. If you get hit, it's your fault.

Freeway traffic has the right of way.

How about those times when some jack ass is driving down the merge lane and won't let you in. If you just pull out in front of him, you are at fault.

I understand that people shouldn't stop on ramps unless absolutely necessary but there are some very short entrance ramps I've been on that you have to stop on if there is oncoming traffic.

You make it sound as if the entrance ramp driver has the right of way.

I can't stand people that are on their cellphone or are simply not paying enough attention to what they are doing on the road. I have had somebody start to change lanes to my lane while I was RIGHT NEXT to them at least 3 times. Drives me CRAZY!

Dude, you must drive like a girl. I have NEVER had to stop on an on-ramp. Ever. You speed up to the same speed as people are driving on the highway, be it 25 or 75, and you merge. End of story.

I'm not trying to make it sound as though the ramp driver has the right of way. I've seen people stop at the Yield sign when they had a new lane on the freeway to drive in. Obviously there are times when you'll have to stop...but if you find yourself doing it more than once a year you have a problem. Either you need to start taking an alternate route, or you can't drive.

I'll give you an example, the on ramp to I-70 in Zanesville only has about a 40 ft. area to merge and with the big semis driving in the right hand lane, sometimes you have to stop.

There's been people killed at that spot who just went ahead and merged and got run over.

Those people didn't merge, they drove into a semi. There's a difference. Merging means you have to be going the same speed as traffic. If you aren't, you deserve to get hit.

That's exactly what I'm saying, sometimes when there is a yield sign you sometimes have to stop. 40 ft. to merge isn't a very safe distance.

You just proved my point. Thank you.
