MADISON, Wis. -- University of Wisconsin senior Montee Ball was the victim of what Madison Police are investigating as an "unprovoked assault" early Wednesday morning. Here is a link to the Madison Police report on the incident: http://www.cityofmadison.com/incidentReports/incidentDetail.cfm?id=13553

From the police report:

A 21-year old man was attacked while walking in the 500 block of University Ave. early this morning. Witnesses said five men jumped the victim. He was knocked to the ground and kicked. The victim was taken to a hospital with head injuries. It does not appear he knew his attackers and this is being investigated as an unprovoked assault. The criminals were last seen running south on N. Frances St. toward the Kohl Center.

I'm not familiar with the standard protocol, but what makes me chuckle is how the official police report goes straight to the use of the word "the criminals" as opposed to "the suspects" or "the alleged assailants."

Which just goes to prove the adage that all Wisky running backs are simply "system players". Come on, if you can't break the tackles of five street thugs, how can you call yourself a D-1 tailback?

He had Wasabi Doritos, didn't he?

I once attended a New Year's Eve party at some friends' rental house on Neil. Late that night (or early morning), like 2:00am or whatever, we were all a bit hungry, so got the bright idea to walk down High St all the way to the White Castle on 2nd Ave.

I don't know what was dumber, thinking we could walk there with cash, or walk back with sacks of sliders.

Yeah, I think it that situation you have to have throwaway sliders. Luckily it was winter so you could hide some to actually eat in your pockets.

Come to think of it, were John Clay and Ron Dayne among the assailants?
