Monster-in-law?

i have a wonderful mother in law, she knows her place and doesn't intrude or put her nose in the middle of anything...

my father in law on the other hand (my wife's step father).... here are a few samples

While my wife was pregnant, he said "wow, you're looking a little big"

Has several times told my wife that she can't talk to her mom becuase they are leaving to go do _________

My mother in law is a great person. She doesn't interfere with our lives or how we raise our kids. She may not approve all he time, but she leaves it as a passing comment and doesn't press the issue.

My mother on the other hand is a battle axe with my wife. She likes her ok, but she's convinced that if it weren't for my wife, I'd live closer to her.

She doesn't realize that all of her married kids live out of state for a reason.

I've been married over 20 years, and have lived about a half hour away from my in-laws the entire time.

Total number of times I've been ticked off at my mother-in-law: zero.

I love the dear woman, and consider myself very fortunate.

I live about 3 minutes from my in-laws and they are the best. In the sumemrs, my father in law and I go golfing every Thrusday with about 10 other guys and get ripped while golfing.

He took me, my brother in-law, and his son to Lake Tahoe last year and we didn't have to pay for one thing.

I feel really bad for people who don't get along with their in-laws.

I can't imagine how much that would suck.

My mother in law is about 98% to the good. My only quibbles are that of her three kids my wife is one she's least fond of, which sometimes is hard on my wife, and that she bosses my father in law around a little too much. My father in law is one of the most awesome people on the face of the Earth.

No complaints here. I would say that I'm actually closer to them than my own parents. They live about 5 miles away and with the exception of our honeymoon, all of our summer vacations for the past five years have been with them.

My in-laws are awful. My mother-in-law told my wife that marrying me was a mistake and I'd be cheating on her within a year...right before she walked down the aisle. At the reception she told her that my parents were "morons" and did a pathetic job of raising their kids (while failing to mention that their 32 year old Star Trek/Star Wars loving son still lives at home). I'm not saying I hate my in laws but...
