    • I just hooked up a new monitor to the docking station for a users laptop. I want to make the external monitor the primary, so that the task bar is put on that screen (i have used expaned desktop). I have tried all of the tricks that i can find and think of including, clicking on the #2 monitor, and draging it to be #1 - doesn't work. I also cannot check the box that says use as primary (because that would just be to damn easy wouldn't it!!) any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
     
    I do it all the time but the "Use this device as the primary monitor" always works for me... Just to check, make sure you are highlighted on monitor 2 when you click it... i'm sure you are but seems to most of the time be that easy for others.

    wtf, i dont have the focus anymore. i have a stratus now, the wife drives the trailblazer most of the time (too expensive to drive it from ytown to akron)

    that didn't work, #2 was selected but the use as primary was grayed out

    Wait a minute, you shouldnt even have to go that far. A laptop normally has 1 VGA out.......and when you attach a monitor to that, the monitor should automatically take over. Sorta like plugging in headphones and having them take over your speakers. What kinda pagan laptop is that? :)

    Hey, i just tried it and am having the same problem as you... I thought i did it before but only extended it. This isn't a pagen laptop either, lol.

    i would like to know how to have both screens be the primary monitor.
