Weirdly, I actually read about an identical situation in an umpiring forum a couple months ago. (No idea how I ended up there). The runner from 3rd was never called out so the run counts unless Toronto appeals at 3rd before leaving the field. (If they had thrown to 3rd instead of 1st for the 3rd out, the run wouldn't have counted, no appeal necessary.) Because they didn't do either of those things, it's treated as if the guy on 3rd DID tag up properly. It sucks for Toronto because the umps waived off the run (incorrectly) when he crossed the plate. If they had counted the run right away, Toronto would have known to appeal to 3rd to get it disallowed. Definitely a weird unintended consequence of the rulebook.

Cal Ripken Jr. (8) and Pudge Rodriguez (7) were among the 26 Hall of Famers to appear at the Field of Dreams in Iowa on Thursday. It was the largest gathering of Hall members outside of Cooperstown since the 2008 All-Star Game at old Yankee Stadium.
Major League Baseball came back to the Field of Dreams, carrying a big piece of Cooperstown.
The pregame pomp before the Minnesota Twins played the Philadelphia Phillies -- adjacent to the farmland where the 1989 fantasy was filmed -- featured 26 members of the Hall of Fame emerging from the outfield corn just as the ghost players did in the movie.
With some of the loudest cheers saved for former Phillies third baseman Mike Schmidt and former Twins catcher Joe Mauer, the capacity crowd of about 8,000 at the newly constructed ballpark in northeast Iowa soaked up the surreal atmosphere as the retired stars strolled into the infield for proper introductions.
Fireworks were launched from the cornfield during the national anthem, and Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber followed with his own big bang -- a homer to right on Twins starter Taj Bradley's third pitch of the game that set the tone for a 7-1 win Thursday night.
