The season is going to get cancelled, they just haven't come to that final conclusion yet, probably for PR reasons.

Anyone who lived through the '94 strike remembers how bad it was. A lot of people never came back at all, more still came back but many years later. One could argue MLB had to over index to the steroid era to generate interest in baseball again.
I've already written '20 off and am trying to just blame it on COVID and ignore what the owners and players are doing.
They are skating on thin ice though. Baseball just doesn't have the popularity anymore to be arrogant toward its fanbase.
