Bullpens across this sport continue to be in shambles. Management has made them such a pivotal, if not THE pivotal point, yet they all seem to suck.

Just interesting to me.

Starting pitching has been devalued to the point of absurdity. There's nothing magical about 100 pitches but they act like a guy's arm with fall off.

When you rely on 3-4 relievers every night all it takes is one of them to be "off" to cost you the ball game.

Texas Rangers to move to new stadium next year, prepare to demand newer stadium

(AP) Arlington, Tx - The Texas Rangers new stadium - Globe Life Field - is nearing completion. The stadium, located next to the existing Globe Life Stadium, will be a state-of-the-art venue with a retractable roof and air-conditioning. "Our organization is absolutely thrilled to be moving into Globe Life Field" said Rangers' President Jon Daniels. "However, to compete in today's MLB climate, we are already preparing our demands to the city for an even newer stadium. With the average salary soon to pass the GDP of a small Asian nation, we will need to impress Free Agents and current players with constant, sparkly new stadiums. How are we supposed to keep up when our home stadium will be weeks old after we have played in it for a few weeks?". Globe Life Field will be the 3rd new stadium for the Rangers since their move from Washington D.C. in 1971. The average length of stay for them is 16 years. In contrast, the Boston Red Sox have played in Fenway Park since 1912 - 107 years.

Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams - a champion of building the Rangers' new facility, could not be reached for comment but was heard quietly sobbing in his office.

Bullpens are notoriously combustible in the early part of the season.

No idea why but it's always been that way.

It takes a while to get into any rhythm, even for starters. Early on in the year, most relievers haven't pitched in any type of regular situation for a couple weeks. That's why you'll see 1/3rd of the closers replaced every year and why guys who hold down the closer job for a decade or more are somewhat special (like Rivera, Hoffman, Kimbrel, etc).....

There's the Pirates Baseball™ I'm accustomed to seeing: Kevin Newman becomes the first Pirate in 119 years to commit 3 errors in the same inning. :bonk:

I wonder if the last guy who did it cost his team 6 unearned runs?

I'm starting to wonder if we should just merge the Reds and Pirates threads into one big suckfest?
