Just checked, they were a half game back on June 1 (tied in the loss column).

Essentially led at the beginning of every month of the season and they don't make the playoffs.

Don't worry, the Pirates have a plan for Chicago.

Execution has been a problem the last two games but they will show their true selves.

Management cancelled the last home game, ostensibly because it doesn't have title implications but probably because their fans aren't coming anyway. It's a shame what the Pirates ownership has done to a once-proud franchise. Will they be around in five years?
