What trips me out is the .197 BA. Back in the day when I was a big fan in the 70's and 80's hitting under .240 was almost unthinkable for a player to keep his starting job. And this dude hits lead off? WTF.

Because people didn’t understand how flawed batting average was in determining a players offensive value.

Yeah they have all these new stats and formulas which really tell a lot. The game is changing and evolving. I do miss the days of playing in old outdoor stadiums, manufacturing runs, hustling down the line on ground outs. The last game I went to I felt like I was at the mall, everything so sterile. I didn't even enjoy the game. I played baseball growing up and it was my first love but it just doesn't talk to me anymore.
