MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

One, you're 22. Don't mess with 14 year olds. Two, if you do, don't be dumb enough to put it on social media.

Time will tell if it's true or not, but 14? You're an MLB player messing with an 8th grader? Dude... :bonk:

Yeah, saw this. Not looking real good but I'm in the "fax and evidents" mode anymore, seriously. We have nothing but the internet telling us she's 14 etc etc etc.

Looks like he's proper fucked by the way the Rays are handling it but it's just so easy to accuse someone of something on SM I am reluctant to buy it on face value.

Looks like the Rays are going to get to the bottom of it, be it true or false.

Outside of baseball thing but I hate that companies first move is to suspend people without pay.

I get removing them from duties pending an investigation of serious allegations but you shouldn't have your income (which is most people's only source of revenue which means food shelter etc for non millionaires) cut off until you can prove innocence from allegations.

That seems backwards to me.

My experience has been that it's a lot easier to give the employee back pay if they're cleared, but hard to get it back if you pay them and they're found guilty. In this case, I imagine this is covered in the CBA. If it's not, the MLBPA will likely act on Franco's behalf.

Yeah it's a lot easier with pro athletes.

I always think of a guy like Frank the parts guy, who gets accused of something and it turns out to be bullshit from a pissed off customer or whatever. That poor bastard (and his family) can't afford the month or more of no income. Most people who aren't wealthy won't make it past 90 days and no one should be bankrupted because of an allegation.

I think some countries (France?) have laws where there is a penalty if you accuse someone and it's proven baseless. That can have it's own set of issues but in general, I hate what can happen right now by mob rule on social media. It's dangerous.

So Wander wandered into the minors and now Tampa Bay lost its best pitcher and best position player in the space of a week.

Darn.

Throw the book at him.

I thought I read they had a Wander Franco hat give away for fans 14 and under the day this came out? May have been parody, may have been some incredible irony.

It was real.

Hard to think of worse timing and promo combination. (And who does a hat giveaway for 14 and under??)

You just want him out of jail for your fantasy team you selfish bastard.

Think of the poor child!
You’re damn right, but too late for that. The damage is done and he’s not going on the road trip.

Just remember, she didn’t go to the authorities or MLB, she shook him down on social media, and then scrubbed her entire past on social media.
