Yes, but our baseball playing ancestors in the reconstruction era were playing in literal cornfields or town squares. That this is the first 8-3-5 triple play since the invention of the “ballpark” or light stanchions is truly spectacularly bad baserunning. I’m honestly surprised a Reds team in the past 25 years didn’t do it first.

What choice do they have? He's leaving anyway and the prospects aren't going to help them.

I think they are making the best of a bad situation. Might as well go for it while you still have superman.

Yeah, it's not easy. Their fans would lose it if they traded him no matter what they got in return.

I'm not sure what the market was for him. Giving up what he's worth only to see him leave in a few months would be a huge risk.
