MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

I managed to attend one no hitter. It was also the only time I had to scalp tickets for a regular season game in Pittsburgh. The Pirates were surprisingly in contention, and by the time we crawled through traffic the game was sold out. Grabbed two random tickets from a guy and headed to General Admission to grab two seats next to each other. Had to take bathroom/beer breaks one at a time to keep them.

It was scoreless through nine but the no hitter made it exciting. Then, in the bottom of the tenth, came the three-run walk off blast. My buddy who attended with me died two years ago - fuck cancer - but I'll never forget that night. Pretty sure we're in this clip because the homer landed just a deck below us. It was absolutely crushed.

They could have picked a non-postseason clip to make the comparison.

Using a playoff game vs. a completely meaningless Spring Training came cheapens the point they are trying to make.

No doubt, but the postseason clip they used is an example of why I have a hard time watching playoff games without a strong rooting interest. Four hours of baseball? No thanks. I'll do something else, check the score, and if it's close in the 7th inning then I'll tune in.

I've never had the problem when I've actually been home long enough to watch a playoff game.

A better comparison would be literally any pitch from last season's spring training. There would still be a significant time saving.

As usual, Jomboy (who runs Talkin Baseball) picks and chooses what he shows to confirm his own biases.

You and I won't be doing any of that any time soon.
