MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

Pirates draft a catcher with the first overall pick. Ok.

But the real loser of the MLB draft thus far seems to be Kansas City. They took a guy with the #7 pick largely because they can sign him for less money and use their "bargain" savings to pay more for other draft picks later in the draft. Bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off.

Reminded why I don't watch the HR derby. Player who hit the second most in the first round is eliminated because his H2H matchup was with the guy who hit the most. Guys who hit fewer move on because they had to manufacture a tournament format.

At least they'll actually play baseball in the AS game itself, which is more than the other sports.

While I agree with you overall I still love the HR derby. Amd what made it even better was my girls (10 and 8) both wanted to watch it with me and they were engaged the entire time. Made this old mans heart smile.

MLB teams were 314-0 this season when leading by 6 runs in the 8th inning. The Pirates - shitty, cheap ass, mutherfucking Pirates - ended that steak tonight.

The Mets led 6-0 going to the bottom of the 8th. The Pirates won 9-7 with a walk off grand slam with 2 outs in the 9th. :pirate:

Gotta love baseball, even when your team sucks.

Over 162 games all the weaknesses of a team will be exposed.

In the meantime, the individual game, or series, the baseball gods decide to even the numbers out in are often spectacular things to see.

One of the, uncountable, reasons baseball is the greatest game on earth.
