To be fair, mattresses have the highest mark-up of about any item that is sold in large quantities. So I guess the moral of the story is if you sell enough mattresses for $3000 that cost $300 to build, you will eventually be in position to gamble away millions.

I hope the Pirates hire him to be their new GM. The Astros are obviously doing team building right and I'm really not into virtue signaling.
I think the reality of society today is if you are an easily replaceable employee who brings public embarrassment to your employer which is a big business, you are in jeopardy of being fired. The Astros made a strange statement earlier in the week where they attacked the media for the story & denied the substance of the incident, and my guess is Taubman lied to his boss and claimed that it didnt happen which led to their strange response. So he may not have been fired for just being a douche alone in other words - if he admitted to it from the outset and took responsibility for his actions, he still might have a job.
