R.I.P. Evan Tanner

I recently questioned the mental health of this dude amongst my friends, as he continued to show up looking like a new SNL character. Long hair, then short hair, then the last one I saw was a Una-bomber get-up that got my attention.

Aw hell. Fight on, Tanner.

Strikes out: Time for Liddell to return to wrestling roots

It's official: Chuck Liddell no longer ranks among the 205-pound elite. That overhand right Rashad Evans landed in the second round Saturday night at UFC 88 cemented Liddell's fate.

Liddell (21-6-0) has lost three of his four most recent fights. Two of the losses have come via knockout, the one by Evans at 1:51 of Round 2 being the most devastating.

At 38 years of age, Liddell finds himself outside the light heavyweight contender mix. But the former champion remains undeterred; he still wants to reclaim his title.

Based on his recent performances, that goal is unrealistic.

Affliction Leaves Las Vegas: Event Postponed

The Oct. 11 Affliction event scheduled for the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas has been postponed, Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer confirmed Wednesday to Sherdog.com.

Affliction contacted Kizer on Wednesday morning to inform him that the event would be moved to a January date at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Advertising for the Oct. 11 pay-per-view event had already begun, including in New York, where scheduled headliners Andrei Arlovski (Pictures) and Josh Barnett (Pictures) were featured on a billboard in Times Square.

ESPN - Shamrock not ready to act his age ahead of fight with Slice - MMA
Shamrock not ready to act his age ahead of fight with Slice

It's been some time since Ken Shamrock has been legitimately been able to say "that's me" when addressed by his nickname, the World's Most Dangerous Man.

The 44-year-old fighter has lost his past five fights by knockout. Shamrock figured he'd get back on the winning track in March when he took on 11-7 Robert Berry, who had been kayoed in six of his seven losses. But the UFC Hall of Famer instead ate a nasty right hand that pitched him to the mat, forcing a stoppage at 3:26 of Round 1 at Cage Rage 25.

Time hasn't been all that kind to the World's Most Dangerous Man, but in the fight game, that does not necessarily lead to the door being shut in your face.

On Oct. 4, Shamrock (26-13-2) will get the opportunity to reverse the curse of aging and defeat when he faces Kimbo Slice (3-0) at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla.

Did anyone catch the first episode of the new The Ultimate Fighter on Spike last night? There is a cocky lightweight (155-lber) from Lexington named Junie Browning who backed up his talk, beating a pretty talented and game lightweight to get onto the show. Dana White and Frank Mir were [TYSON]ecstatic[/TYSON] in watching and talking about this kid.

The second half of TUF is on tonight.

I like the format that they adopted last year - 32 guys, but only 16 of whom make it onto the show's season by fighting their way on in the first episode. Makes for a pretty exciting hour.

Thanks for the heads up. I missed last night and would have missed tonight too without reading your post. I set my dvr for the rest of the season after reading that.

The new format almost has to be a response to the fucktard who showed up on the show and couldn't make weight 2 seasons ago. The chance of a lifetime, if that's your bag, and the guy shit down his leg. At least this way every person in the house has something to back up why he is there in the first place.
