MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - After a delay of more than 20 hours because of snow, the Ohio State baseball team fell to Minnesota, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in the opener of Siebert Field in Minneapolis. The Buckeyes drop to 18-9 on the season, 4-3 in Big Ten play, while the Golden Gophers improve to 18-12, 3-1 in conference play.
In the opener, a game that started Friday and concluded Saturday, Minnesota put a pair of runners on in the bottom of the first when Andy Henkemeyer and Michael Handel notched back-to-back one out singles but Ohio State starter Jaron Long induced a 6-3 double play by Dan Olinger to end the Golden Gopher rally.
Things stayed quiet until the bottom of the fourth when Henkemeyer led off the inning with an infield single, moved to second on a groundout to short by Handel and scored on an RBI single to center by Olinger. After a fly out to right by Ryan Abrahamson, Olinger swiped second on a delayed steal and scored on a two-out RBI double down the right-field line by Mark Tatera. Troy Larson then hit a fly ball to center but Buckeye centerfielder Joe Ciamacco couldn?t make the play as Tatera came around to score on the error to push the Golden Gopher lead to 3-0 before the game was suspended because of snow after five frames.

    Buckeyes take Game 2

Ohio State took the early lead in the second game against Minnesota starter Ben Meyer. Jacob Bosiokovic reached on a throwing error to lead off the top of the second and scored on an RBI triple to left by Kirby Pellant. Brad Hallberg then followed with an RBI groundout to second to plate Pellant for the 2-0 Buckeye lead.
The Buckeyes tacked on to their lead with three runs off Meyer in the top of the third. Ryan Cypret singled up the middle with one down, Pat Porter tripled down the left-field line and Aaron Gretz lined a single back up the middle to score a pair. After Bosiokovic walked and Pellant was hit by a pitch, Hallberg drew a bases-loaded walk to push the lead to 5-0.

Gophers take Game 3 and Series

The Golden Gophers had a great opportunity to lead off the second when Alex LaShomb hit a deep fly ball and Buckeye centerfielder Joe Ciamacco, shaded to left-center, ranged all the way to deep right-center to make diving catch just in front of the wall and keep the Minnesota leadoff man off base.
After that, both Ohio State starter Brian King and Minnesota starter DJ Snelten breezed through five frames until the Golden Gophers were able to get on the board in the bottom of the sixth when Minnesota second baseman Tony Skjefte led off the frame with a home run to left.
