I honestly don't think we played that great of a game...really good defense but we struggled to find offense as usual if the points didn't come in transition. No real post presence other than some rebounding from Amir and an occasional glimpse of scoring from Ravenel. That is what we have done all year. Only difference I saw is that Scott was knocking down some jumpers, which would be huge if he could do that consistently. Also, we rotated early and often...the fact that we have not found a shred of identity at this point is incredibly disconcerting but I at least applaud Matta for trying to figure it out in a game situation.
Last night a legit question was posed by Jackson: Would you rather have a second scorer behind Thomas, or 2-3 that combine to score? To me, the only option we have is the former if we are to be consistent. We need Ross to step up and be that 2nd scorer behind Thomas and that is out of necessity. Can Craft, Scott, Smith, or Thompson get hot in a game and get double digits? Sure. However, I just don't think we have enough consistent scorers to combine for decent scoring on a consistent basis. The only way to have a few guys is to sacrifice our defense by throwing out Della Valle and Ross. However, I do think we can have Ross out there with Deshaun, Thompson, Craft/Scott/Smith, and one of Amir/Ravanel/McDonald, and still have great defense with an added scoring threat. Not to mention you get boards with Ross and he has been playing better defense. Just my .02.
