Mili, Kerr is out at least one game.

Trapasso is out a minimum of 2 games, and possibly red shirt season.

Linebacker Kerr not on OSU's roster
Jason Lloyd, Journal Register News Service 08/12/2004
OSU Notes

COLUMBUS - There were 105 players dressed and smiling during Ohio State's photo day on Wednesday, but the biggest name missing was linebacker John Kerr.

Kerr, a transfer from Indiana, is not on the preseason roster and will not play in the Sept. 4 opener against Cincinnati because of an apparent team rules violation, according to an Ohio State spokesman. Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel said Kerr could be added following the opener.

"He will be on the team and the roster, but it will not be through the first game," Tressel said. "The NCAA has a 105 limit through your first game. We didn't choose to have him in the 105 that we're allowed to bring."

Tressel refused to elaborate as to why Kerr, who prepped at St. Ignatius, is not on the roster. He led Indiana in tackles in 2002 before transferring. He was listed third at middle linebacker on the spring depth chart, behind Anthony Schlegel and Mike D'Andrea.

MIA, part II

Punter A.J. Trapasso, cited twice over the summer for underage drinking, will likely miss the first two games and could end up being red-shirted.

On signing day in February, Trapasso was thought to be a viable option to replace Ray Guy Award winner B.J. Sander. Now the likely options are Josh Huston, a converted kicker who lost the job to Mike Nugent two years ago, and Kyle Turano. Both Huston and Turano are fifth-year seniors.

Celebrity

Cornerback E.J. Underwood made a spot appearance over the summer on MTV. The network pulled college students off the street around various parts of the country and asked them to view "Farenheit 9/11," the controversial documentary directed by Michael Moore. Then they filmed the students' responses.

"I was out one night just walking the street, and one of the producers asked if I wanted to watch "Farenheit 9/11" and then talk about it," Underwood said. "I said 'yeah, I'd do that.' "

Underwood didn't want to talk about what he really thought of the movie.

"A lot of people have opinions on it," he said. "I made some good points, but I can't remember what I said."

Underwood said he never really thought of himself as a political person, until now.
"It totally caught me off guard, but now I'm trying to keep up with the news to see what's going on," he said. "I'm more involved into that."

Court short

Tailback/safety Ira Guilford could enter a plea as soon as today on second-degree felony charges brought against him and tight end Louis Irizarry in connection with a robbery that occurred in late April.

Both players are likely finished for this year, and it's hard to imagine either playing for the Buckeyes again, although Tressel left the door cracked yesterday.

"You don't know the length of those (court) things," Tressel said. "Having completion enough to make decisions institutionally, then athletic department-wise and, finally, football-wise and academically as well."
