Mike Vick (Pittsburgh Steelers)

Vick still is a "marginal" NFL QB at best.

A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

Maybe thrower, but he showed last nite what he can do if his receivers help him out. He had Dunn running on a bad leg behind him, but he still found a way to put up 28 pts on the Cowboys defense.

Yes he has his bad games and sometimes they are downright horrible, but that doesnt take away from some of his spectacular games he has.

Also the Falcons are in need of a defense.

I didnt say anything about him winning or losing, just mentioning that I don't agree with the margianl QB thing...

But if you are mentioning wins and losses you do know that Vick has a career winning record right??

I know he has a winning record. Still think he's a marginal "QB."

I guess it's safe to say that the Chargers got the better end of that Deal.

Tomlinson: 28 Rushing Touchdowns, 2 Passing Touchdowns, 3 Receiving touchdowns, 1 fumble.

Vick: 19 Passing Touchdowns, 2 Rushing TD's, 11 INT's and 4 Fumbles...

Seriously, when does Atlanta finally decide "we need to change the system" because I can't figure Vick out. One minute he's saying the system makes him pass too much so they change it around and it still doesn't work.

I don't see the Falcons getting to the superbowl with this team, so do they need to change the other parts or get rid of vick? Selling jerseys is cool and all but winning superbowls is what the NFL is about.

You said the most important stat is W/L, so you are saying he has a marginal record?

Just curious when he said that he was passing too much...

So getting rid of Vick is going to make the team better. Please explain or let Mr. Blank know so we can get this team to a super bowl. Maybe they should let him go tomm. How about if they had their #1 DE healthy and their #2 cb healthy...That could help, but maybe I am just crazy...

BTW I did like the trickaration they pulled with Schaub at QB and Vick in as a tb, if they can find plays out of this where he doesnt take a pounding they very well be on to something down the stretch and hopefully(fingers crossed) into the playoffs...

Unloading Vick sure would free up some cash to spend on FA defenders.

Schaub fits the West Coast mold MUCH more than Vick.

Wonder if part of the reason that they've been so hesitant to unload Schaub is b/c their patience with Vick is wearing razor thin?

Again just throwing that bone out there b/c they could get something half decent for Schaub.

At the beginning of the season there was all talk on every game of theirs on how their new system was more passing oriented then in an interview he made the statement that he wasn't comfortable so they adjusted. They had success for a couple games with him rushing and now they are back to where they started.

They aren't a bad team, they just don't seem to be able to get all the pieces in place in order to truly be successful. I don't know what the issue is but it's obvious he's getting frustrated and worse, he's taking that frustration out on the fans. Those same fans that are their costumers, the people who buy tickets, merchandise etc... I don't know what you do for a living but i know if I gave the bird to my customers it would cause some un-easyness.

As for the injuries etc... this isn't intended to sound rude but it probably will come off that way, but, good teams work past injuries, suspensions, etc... These are all the elements that make a championship team. Look at the great runs teams have had, the Pats won ugly but they fought through losing major players to remain successful. Yes it's nice to have them, but Corners and Defensive backs aren't the key to your system. Thats Vick, he's the franchise.

As for trick plays, I think everyone loves them. Two weeks ago I watched the chargers do some bumbarooski play that made my jaw drop.

Oh and the Falcs will probably make the playoffs, in the NFC they are one of the better teams.

no they are hesitant to deal Schaub becasue he is a restricted FA this year and when they trade him/another team signs him they get a 1st and a 3rd. The west coast argument is void because the OC Knapp (along with his shit offense) and DC Donatello (and his soft zone bullshit) will both be fired this year, along w/ Mora most likely.......edit the Vick cap hit would be devastating. And the players on D are fine the scheme is horrible. Ask the Packers about Donetello

Haven't they received offers for Schaub the last few years or am I mistaken?

Thump,

The Man put exactally what I would of put, and also you can't just get rid of Vick due to the cap hit that the team would take...

He said last year that he let it get to his head that people wanted him to be more of a passer, but he needs to do what is best for the team, not sure I have seen anything where he said that he didnt want to pass too much.

I have never said that I agreed with the flicking off of the fans, and truly believe that it was disgraceful.

I totally understand what you are saying about injuries, but with that said the QB can't do everything. While the Pats had injuries they still had a base for the team with Vrable, Law, Seymour, etc...

Also you don't see people bashing Peyton Manning for the lack of defense when his team loses. You see them bashing the defense. Vick can't get out there and stop the cowboys from scoring after he brought his team back, or the same thing against the Giants earlier in the year, or alot of the other games.

As for trick plays, I think everyone loves them. Two weeks ago I watched the chargers do some bumbarooski play that made my jaw drop.

I don't really think that Vick as a rb is really a trick play, but more of a thing that will keep the D off balance...

I hope you are right about your last comment, but we have the Panthers and Eagles to finish the season...One team playing not so good and one playing very well...

Yes, just not what they thought they could get out of him, and why not keep a capable back-up when he is making peanuts when you have a QB that has been known to get dinged up at times. The Eagles are the prime example for that with what Garcia is doing for them, when they know that they have an injury prone QB in McNabb...

I more just brought this up to show how the light is now shed on him. He's exciting to watch, he's unpredictable but that once incident will haunt him. It's moved a lot of people like me, fans of the game in general, to a side that's against him.

Well this isn't really true, I mean Peyton has had 3 bad games and suddenly everyone is saying they are soft and one and done when they get to the playoffs. The same is said about San Diego, even thought they are winning tough and have survived through all the hellaments a season can put on you, everyone pretty much counts those two teams as done after their first playoff games.

There is one common element between the two teams, there's one person that they are saying can't win it. For Indy, it's Peyton, for San Diego, it's Marty. The end result, when the colts lose everyone looks for something to go after Peyton. I think the only person "safe" in San Diego is their running back, because if they piss him off there's 31 other teams in the league that would jump at the chance to take him.

I don't really think that Vick as a rb is really a trick play, but more of a thing that will keep the D off balance...
Here's what I think on the whole subject, look at Vince Young, they just let him do what he does... it was that way at first with Vick, then he got hurt in pre-season and now it just looks like he's gotten the training-wheels put back on, where they were successful when they were taken off. People in football get hurt, thats part of the game, but it just looks to me like Atlanta is doing so much to keep Vick from getting hurt that in turn, they have taken away a good deal of their potency.

I hope you are right about your last comment, but we have the Panthers and Eagles to finish the season...One team playing not so good and one playing very well...
On both accounts, it really depends which team shows up. Jeff Garcia hasn't been a good quarterback for a while, if you get him nervous he will remember he's Jeff Garcia. And I dunno about the Panthers, talk about an inconsistent team.
