Michigan WR Mario Manningham (official thread)

Mario's been planning to leave after 3 since HS. It is pretty clear he does not mesh with Mallett, after berating the frosh publically. (of course, he goes onto drop nearly everything in The Game  :roll2:)

I think he still leaves, against better judgment. Every underclassmen wr with a pulse left last year (Johnson, Ginn, Rice, Jarrett, etc), clearing the way for this year's WRs to go earlier. Then again, Holmes was the only 1st rounder in his draft.

Saturday was a true contrast of a great wideout from a fraud.

While Not-So-Super Mario was dropping passes like crazy, Michael Crabtree, a REAL wideout, went nuts in the OU game.
you need to stop smoking that shit man.
The weather there was terrible, cold rain and snow, Everyone his brother was slipping and dropping the ball. Yeah MM dropped the ball but no way was he shown up as a fraud. Todd dropped it 2 maybe 3 times in the first quarter alone, is he a fraud too?

Tell me how many times an OSU wide receiver dropped a pass. That's what I thought...

By the way, I didn't see a single flake of snow, so you can cut with the dramatics...

don't forget about another reciever from michigan that had problems holding onto the ball against OSU. And he is doing just fine now with the browns. One bad game shouldn't stop him from going pro.

Off hand I don't know other than Small dropped a punt. Besides the point is that it was slippery in the game. not that we dropped as many as MM did. It's kind of hard to drop a lot of passes when they only throw 2 in the 2nd half now is it?

It seemed to be drying out some in the second half when he dropped some big passes. People at least were no longer slipping between the 15 and 30 where there were so many problems early.

The point is the weather was no excuse for the amount of passes he dropped. None of our WRs dropped a single pass, IIRC...not one. He dropped three (at least). Now, he may not be a "fraud", but he sure didn't come anywhere near to living up to his billing...

Fraud is a strong word. That weakness was not a new one, it was the lack of deep ball success that was the big diversion from the normal Mario. Much of that was thanks to stellar DB play, a limited QB & a short play clock with the protection issues up front.

Not really comparable, imo. Mario is a great deep ball WR, has a filthy double move and is dangerous after the catch. However, he struggles over the middle, partially due to toughness, can be jammed at the line, has lapses in effort, and does not run every route well.

Contrast that with Braylon's scouting report. Both having lapses in concentration do not make the two comparable overall.

A dry ball "slips" through your arms when you are looking downfield instead of into your hands.
