Michigan Chatter - 2004

On the game and the future!

37-21. Music to my ears. What a fantastic day to be a Buckeye fan!!

I'll be the first to admit that I was down on the Buckeyes at times this season. I became the negative guy wayyy too often this year.

This team is young:
By my count there are 18 starters back (19 if you count Youbouty's considerable time in for Fox this season).

The offensive talent on this team (Ginn and Holmes primarily) is going to force a change in philosophy. This offense is going to have to be creative to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers. This offense is going to be seasoned next year. With one or two new faces on the O line, there MAY be some fireworks on the offensive side of the ball. Haw and Pittman will split time and hopefully the Bucks will be able to find the running game that eluded them this season.

The whole defense is back with an upgrade at End (Gholston is going to bring the explosion that Simon lacks). D'Andrea will be back pusing Schlegal. Freeman will be pushing Carpenter and Hawk which will make them even better. Youbouty had his coming out party today against "the best receiver in the nation." Ashton had Braylon hanging his head on the bench in the 4th quarter.

Nugent and the seniors will be missed, but looking into a scarlet and gray crystal ball, I'm seeing big things in the next few years for our Buckeyes and Coach Tressel.

In the summer of 1985 I moved from Akron to TSUN.

I was in 5th grade that fall and never really watched football until that year.

We had a block party our neighbors for the scUM game - and at the time, it seemed like fun - until we lost.

I found out the hard way what this rivarly was all about when my classmates started ragging me for wearing an OSU sweartshirt to school - even when we lost.

I couldn't understand why I would cheer for a team whose uniforms I hated just b/c they beat my team.

I watched Bruce's last win in '87 in the presence of those scUM fans - but that was my only glory in enemy territory.

We moved back to Akron in '89 - just in time for the infamous tie in '92.

I was in Chicago (college) for Coop's first win in '94.

I attended my first scUM rivarly game in '96 - and to my frustration - over a decade after my first introduction to the scUM rivalry I had only seen the Bucks win twice - with one being a distant childhood memory.

I savored the '98 win for a full year and rejoiced when Coop was canned in '00.

Now that JT has gone 3-1 vs. the weasels - I can enjoy the rivarly literally like I never have before.

And let me tell you - telling a scUM fan - even decent ones - to GO BLOW is redemption in its purest form.

So - to all of you grade school graduates of Weginka Elementry school in Woodhaven, MI - GO BLOW!

i was so proud of the oline today.....they played physical....

to beat scum without a running back is amazing......

tsmith played the perfect game that was needed as well....

it was said all week that the buckeyes would need to play a "perfect" game to win....guess what....these young men came as close as you can to playing the perfect game....

it was great to witness.......
And just think.. we only have 1 game to go before we don't have to worry about a redshirt on Haw.. lol.

And a lot of recruits will be committing to their school of choice soon.. so a lot of action up coming.

Exactly.

If they want to crow about getting thumped, backing into the RB and then getting pasted in it once again let 'em.

3 out of 4 - Coop's not here to help the scUMers anymore.
