I haven't been watching the game and not sure if your definition of cut block is correct, but everyone cut blocks. Hell you can even dive at the back of a guys legs on the LOS. That's a little dirty, but legal.

it was a cut block. a cut block is a block on a player below his waist, especially below the knees.

if you dive at the back of a guys leg at the line of scrimmage, that is a chop block, which is illegal. furthermore, the play must be in the immediate area for a block below the waist to be legal. regardless, cut blocks and especially chop blocks are certainly dirty and sometimes illegal. all types of these blocks should be banned.
