Michigan 14, Penn State 9 (final)

Best part for me is that one of the two teams I dislike the most is going to start the B10 season with a loss. That much I'm sure of.

Next best part is that they both play on the road the following week(emotional let down time for winner or loser) vs teams they should beat but play a style that can give PSU & UM fits if executed well. PSU @ ILL while tsun is @ NU.

We've been in heaven this year watching tsun and NoD suck balls, whats to say our good fortune can't continue and one of these two teams starts the B10 0-2 and is essentially eliminated from the B10 race?

ILL is going to play one game a year where they don't make TO's or scads of penalties and beat someone they shouldn't. I pray its not us. NU lacks the speed of APSU or Oregon but its the scheme that keeps tsun fans up at night.

If tsun beats PSU, the NU game quickly gets circled as a big trap game in my book. Also if PSU loses, I could see a shaken and demoralized team struggle up in Champaign.

If PSU wins this week, I think the odds of an upset vs Ill go down a lot but I could still see tsun lack focus and energy and be in for a fight from NU.

Lou gave his "pep talk" to Penn State this week. That's as good a slam dunk as being picked to win by Beano Cook or Lee Corso (see: Week 2 pep talk to Michigan before the Oregon game, or Week 3 pep talk to Nebraska before USC went to Lincoln).

Michigan in a rout.

What an abomination. Complete and utter nonsense. (Or should that be nonshenshe?) He capped his nonshenshical "pep talk" with shome line about Penn Shtate should reming Michigan why they shouldn't schedule Penn Shtate. Uhhhh......what? They're in the shame fucking conference, you shenile old fuck! God almighty, there has to be shomething (anything? anywhere? please?) more usheful and intereshting than thish crap!

To follow up. Is it the presence of Lou Holtz that makes Mark May not seem so bad this year or is May actually more endurable than previous years? I actually haven't minded him so much. It also might be because he's always talking about how bad ND sucks, which of course never gets old, and he's really the only one of them to say that.

I think the issue was that he and Trev Alberts didn't seem to disagree very often, and both were enamored with the thought that high-powered offenses won college games. That was especially disagreeable for Ohio State fans, since the 02-04 seasons weren't exactly the glory years of OSU offensive dominance, so it appeared the two were ganging up to knock OSU down a few pegs for not making 600 yard, 40 point outputs routine. 3 yards and a cloud of punt isn't pretty and doesn't make for a good highlight clip, even if it does win a lot of football games.

May became leaps and bounds more tolerable starting in '05, once our offense was upgraded with the addition of Troy Smith.

EDIT: I've also stated this elsewhere, a long time ago when the whole ESPN v OSU shit storm was in high gear. OSU fans should have been less concerned with studio talking heads complaining about the state of our football program, and more concerned with the fact that the players kept doing stupid things off the field to give the talking heads ammunition. I don't care if Mark May thought JT should be on the hot seat because Troy Smith took $500 from a booster. I was more concerned about the fact that Troy took $500 from a booster to begin with.

The thing that really seemed to piss everyone off here more than anything about the two of them was their constant Iowa lovefest, especially in 2002. They would go so far that year to say we were lucky we didn't have to play them, Ferentz was a genius and the greatest coach since John Pop Amos Alonzo Rockne Heisman, blah blah blah.

Since Trev left and Ferentz has turned his program into seven-and-five-owa, May hasn't been all that bad by himself.

I still think May is bitter about that 72-0 beatdown the Bucks gave Pitt in 96.
