Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

Sweet, this drops the chances of OTL running another story on OSU this Sunday to 75%.

And even if they don't, they will make sure to emphasize that trading personal objects for tats is a much more heinous NCAA violation, and that tOSU actively encouraged this atmosphere of violations. All while Miami is upstanding and cooperating with the NCAA, bastions of NCAA compliance.

Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro described a sustained, eight-year run of rampant NCAA rule-breaking, some of it with the knowledge or direct participation of at least seven coaches from the Miami football and basketball programs.

That's gonna leave a mark!!!

ESPN had the MIami problems as their lead story on College Football Live today. They led off the show with it, and talked about it for a couple of minutes. I thought they treated the story fairly - not trying to whitewash it, not trying to fry Miami without getting further information.

That was before the Yahoo article posted above came out. We'll see how it goes from here.

Well then, I take my smart ass remark back.

May this story be the Tiger Woods to our Ben Roethlisberger and get Ohio State out of the news cycle. Considering the scale of the indiscretions involved, it should be more like Tiger Woods to Mother Teresa, but no one reported on Mother Teresa 24/7.

Anyways...

Well, this was only one booster after all, and the alleged players who allegedly received alleged benefits probably didn't know about them, allegedly.

No no no, Shapiro gave the money for prostitutes and abortions to the players parents without the players knowledge. 1 day suspensions are on their way.

From the article:
Shapiro also set up various "tournaments" where players won money for fishing, bowling and playing pool. And in the spirit of Luther Campbell's history with the program, Shapiro said he started a bounty system in 2002 tied to both rivalry games such as Florida State and Florida, and also games against highly ranked opponents.
I wonder if Willis McGahee had a bounty out on Will Allen?
