Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

This wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't for the SEC.

You either feel Shannon's actions were appropriate or inappropriate. The behavior of SEC programs has nothing to do with it. One count of murder isn't all of a sudden acceptable due to the existence of serial killers.

From the context of your post I assume you think its o.k. to run off current players to free up scholarships for incoming guys who might be more talented?

LOL Do you guys know the whole story behind the pell grant scandel? Not a flame just curious.

You mean the Pell Grant scandal the FBI called "perhaps the largest centralized fraud upon the federal Pell Grant program ever committed"? The one that over 57 players were implicated in? The one where a Miami academic adviser got 3 years in federal prison?

I can't wait to hear what a big misunderstanding that all was.

enlighten us please
The whole pell grant thing was ran by Tony Russell. His son Twan Russell played for Miami. He would falsify loan applications which he charged the players like 80 dollars which would turn into anywhere from $1500 to $2500 in return for the players. Russell served 3 years in prison for it.

Now the whole pay for play thing was started by Luke which he would gather on the sidelines with former players who were in the league. They would generate cash pools for big plays, hits, ints ect. The NCAA found nothing wrong with the pay for play thing. Not to many programs have the luxery of having so many players in the NFL. And it probably still goes on to the day.

How is this possible?

Who was Tony Russel working for at the time?

Also, what about the $412K the University was found to have issued to 141 football players as student aid after "miscalculating" room and board expenses?

Just another rouge employee so intelligent that no amount of supervision by the university could detect any wrong doing?

So why the SEC comparison?

You were clearly implying they were far worse abusers of the over signing rules than Miami. If you didn't think this was a case of over signing and removing a current player to sign a new one why bring up the SEC?

He wasnt a staff member. And as far as the 412K i dont know nothing about that. Dennis Erickson was a master of cover ups.

A) He was an employee of the University of Miami (that means the school is responsible for what its employees be perpetratin' to make it easier for you to grasp)

B) Why am I not surprised?

C) In retrospect I'd say he wasn't quite as good at it as you guys thought he was.

Signing more kids to scholarships you don't have is oversigning. When you're school does it, it really doesn't matter what other schools do because your school is guilty of it. Bottom line. It's wrong and kind of embarrassing. Saying it wouldn't be an issue if other schools hadn't shown the public how wrong it is, is just flat out stupidity.
