Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

Lol what a fucking joke. These are professionals now making upwards of millions of dollars per year. No more hiding behind the "they're just kids playing for the love of the game and their school" schtick any more
I think the only people who fell for that shtick were CFB fans who weren't NFL fans. The rest of us saw this joke for decades. College has never had actual student athletes since maybe the 30s or 40s

On Nov 2nd they were 9-0 and returning to glory for the 21st time since Jim Tressel killed their program.

Then the wheels came off...

Now some of those wins were total bullshit, ref gifted miracles but that just makes the collapse all the sweeter.

Started November undefeated, just lost the fucking Pop Tart Bowl

NIck Saban "fell" for that schtick too. It's "why" he quit coaching.
Saban paid more players than next to any other program. He got butt hurt because now everyone could offer more money and he took his ball and went home. He had no problem paying kids under the table

That's it. Bama is realizing when the checkbooks open they don't have that deep of pockets.

I would retire if I lost one of my biggest competitive advantages at the tail end of a successful career. It was really the smart move for Saban. It's not like he needed the money.

Completely agree. And then I'd go on major networks and say that the system is broken
