Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

Geeze, if Al Golden got these kind of ridiculous botched calls he might still have a job.

What a disgrace; runner was down AND they reviewed a block in the back penalty and picked it up?! If Duke had a football fanbase they'd be up in arms/TI-83's.

New variation on the Hail Mary strategy? Just run around pitching the ball so much that you confuse the hell out of the refs, and it's too much for them to sort out. (Not like anybody has video available or anything.)

CU's issues start with recruiting imo. Where are they going to get talent? CCSD? Douglas? HS Football just isn't a big deal out here.

That CU's troubles start with recruiting is absolutely true, but I do think that the local talent is a bit better than you say: They just don't keep much of it. It's not enough to make them elite if they did, but taking the lion's share of the best in-state talent would get them to middle of the P12 IMO. As for how they recruited during their glory days:

It's all hands-free now... Matlab is the standard

Duke is TSUN of the ACC. When they get screwed, the next morning my breakfast tastes a little better, and the rising sun shines a little brighter. Fuck Duke.

In basketball, I concur. In football... they're more like Northwestern imo. Cutcliffe seems like one of the good guys.

Some of the talk during McElwain's time was how he was able to keep talent in-state and make CSU a solid destination for local players.
It's definitely true they'd be a little better if they put up a fence, but I don't think it'd work as well for CU -- they don't play a MWC schedule. Watching 5A football out here vs my hometown in Elyria ... it's night and day. EHS wasn't that good when I visited to see relatives either, whereas CCHS here seems to have a permanent invitation to the post-season.
The numbers seem to back that up as well. Various sources put CO in the bottom half of States producing FBS talent, and towards the very bottom when looking at per capita. The effete middle class that moves out here from the West and East Coasts, living in their gated communities, are far more interested in having their kids play soccer (boys) and volleyball (girls) than football and basketball.

The SEC seems to have it figured out by getting teams to come down for "neutral" games in the same locations bowls are played later on. As long as the Wisconsins of the world are happy with that arrangement, it will continue.
And so long as the bowl games are there later, it's not entirely irrational... may as well get some big game experience down there.

the SEC can't really take credit for creating and continuing that trend.
those sites are who created and continues to schedule and set those match ups.

SEC teams are enjoying the benefits of being geographically close to those sites. Because those games are in our backyards, we get first dibs to help guarantee ticket sales.

hopefully LSU traveling to Lambeau next season helps start a new trend of thes games being played somewhere other than Atlanta and Jerry World while also giving us more matchup combinations.
Although I really wish our "home and home" with Wiscy was actually at Death Valley and Camp Randal instead of these lifeless NFL stadiums.

Carhartt should sponsor a Bowl game and get it in the playoff rotation.

I'd love to see the SEC champ come up to Columbus to play OSU in January and get to remind them that it's a neutral site game for a month leading up to it.

We would also get to see if they travel like Buckeye Nation travels into the heart of enemy territory.

I'm guessing not
