I would have to disagree. Talent wise Miami could actually go player for player with many top teams, it's the coaching that has brought Miami down. If the OSU coaching staff were to go to Miami, I can bet they'd be in the ACC championship year one and in the CFB playoff by year 2. Golden and his staff is in way over their heads, D'Onfrio is absolutely clueless.

Maybe a conference championship because ultimately the ACC is weak this year. But Cryami has a structural problem that goes back to when JT ruined their program. They lack that invincibility idea that they used to have and even worse, as yesterday showed, they stopped caring (and they did the same against Ohio's BCS team a couple weeks ago)....that's not entirely on the coaching.

At this point their talent level matches their results. Sure they have some talented players but they are all individuals, not members of a team in any sense. Yesterday's performance was more than 'just' coaching....

Disagree, OSU coached under Luke Fickell went 6-7, and a year later with virtually the same players went undefeated. Some circumstances changed, but an entirely new offense and defense were installed and Urban changed the mindset of the team, and he admitted that that team wasn't championship caliber. Coaching made the difference. Their skill position players led by QB Kaaya are very talented, as are their DBs. I'm not disagreeing with the structural issue, but the right coach can honestly make them dangerous, whomever steps in doesn't have a bare cupboard as far as talent and recruiting. I doubt they stopped caring, they just got their arses kicked, what can you really do when you're down whooped up and down the field, same happened to OSU in 2006, and I wouldn't say that we caring as a team. And those talented individuals need to be coached into playing as a team, so no their record isn't exactly indicative of the talent, especially last year where they had a number of players drafted high yet only winning 6gms, that's on coaching

Their recruiting has been on a downward trend. Their offensive and defensive lines get pushed around and this has been the case for nearly a decade now. They lack playmakers on both sides of the ball and they have no one who can remind you of the "good old days" of Cryami. That said, with the right coach they'd certainly go 10-2 in the uber-shitty ACC...coaching only goes so far. They'd still lose to Clemson, probably still lose to FSU and there's a reason teams like Nebraska and Cincy gave them a run for their money - despite Golden's coaching issues, the talent just isn't as overwhelming as it has been in the past.

And let's stop with the Ohio State comparison. It's not like UFM inherited a dead program from Fickell. UFM came into a program that was surely in chaos but only 1 season (2010) previously had won the Sugar Bowl and had gone to 6 straight BCS bowls. Also, had JT/Pryor/Posey/Boom/Adams/etc not been suspended/fired for their transgressions, Ohio State was likely to be ranked in the top-2 going into 2011. The situations are entirely different. Cryami hasn't won jack shit since 2003-04. 2012 was a fun season and credit to UFM for doing it with Tressel's players, but let's face it, Braxton Miller is a super star who made that season (mostly) go. Cryami has absolutely no one like that on their team.

Now a coaching staff has to come in, clear out the players who don't care (there were usually 22 of them on the field yesterday) and start fresh. You won't get a coach like UFM to walk into that situation and they likely won't get a 'name' coach of any type (even a retread) to go there. They need a guy (Matt Rhule comes to mind) who can reform a program into something it clearly isn't currently. That also means winning with sub par (for Cryami) talent until the top recruits start going to Cryami again.

i dont think another Temple coach would be hired at Miami... The list on SI is a good one with coaches on the rise. But the problem is, will the administration and boosters give them enough time for a true rebuilding effort? And if they can't get Cristobal or Davis will they back the hire also? This will be a true rebuilding effort and anotber coach needs appropriate time to fix the program and change the culture

Miami was good when it owned the "state of Miami"

Miami took major sanctions after every period of owning "the state of Miami"

Donna Shalala just recently stepped down as University President.

Occam tells me they have sucked on it since the last property bill was presented because the president wants no part of owning the state of Miami anymore.

"Will The U ever be back?", is most likely answered by the new administrations appetite for the cost of owning that particular piece of real estate.
