Actually, Coker is a really good guy, but he simply can't coach the Coral Gables Posse - they're just too out of control, and don't have 1/10 of the talent to match the swagger.

I actually like Coker to, he's just at miami.
very true. When players look up to an Irvin, winslow and so on. They all think the same shit.

I don't have the power to award GPA's, but this is about the best description of the other UM program that I have seen. Coker comes off as a decent guy, much more than that program deserves. Of course, Coker recruited these guys, so he'll take the hit for talent level. Wait until the front-running Miami press starts in. It's going to get even hotter at "The U."

Looking at the scoreboard, it certainly isn't a good day for the state of Florida.

Now that's Far East typing speed. I was thinking the same thing. While it's still early, the Big 3 is in deep kim-chi. A little question for the stats specialists, when was the last time Miami, FSU, and Florida all lost on the same day? And, no, I do not know the answer.

Wow, I lost money on this one. I thought it was a sure win. Who is going to be the next scUM south head coach?

Jon Gruden wouldn't have far to go, and judging from last week, there may be better players at the U than in Tampa at this point anyway.

LOUISVILLE 31 MIAMI 7
Cardinals clobber ?Canes, lose QB

LOUISVILLE, Ky. ? University of Miami players started the day by stomping on the Louisville Cardinal logo in the middle of field. That might be the last sign of swagger the Hurricanes show for a while.
Three hours later, it was the Louisville fans on the field after one of the biggest wins in school history.
No. 12 Louisville dominated No. 17 Miami 31-7 yesterday, gaining the signature win it has been searching for under coach Bobby Petrino even as the Cardinals (3-0) lost a Heisman Trophy hopeful to injury.
Quarterback Brian Brohm suffered a dislocated thumb on his right (throwing) hand in the third quarter and will miss three to six weeks. He threw for 181 yards and a touchdown before giving way to backup Hunter Cantwell, who finished off the Hurricanes with 113 yards and a touchdowns pass.
"I think it just shows how deep we are and how much talent we have," said Brohm, who expects to be back by the time the Cardinals play host to No. 5 West Virginia on Nov. 2. "Just to go out there on home field and put it to Miami like that, it felt good."
Miami (1-2) will probably find itself out of the rankings for the first time since 1999 when the polls come out today.
"Well it was pretty obvious today we were embarrassed," Miami coach Larry Coker said. "Our players are embarrassed, our coaches are embarrassed. We thoroughly got whipped."
The Cardinals had already lost one Heisman Trophy contender for the season when running back Michael Bush suffered a broken leg in the season opener.
Kolby Smith, one of a committee of backs used to replace Bush, ran for two touchdowns as Louisville beat a ranked opponent from a Bowl Championship Series conference for the first time since 2002.
"They?re always saying that we can?t win the big one," Smith said. "They?re saying that we?ve beat up on other teams and we haven?t beat a ranked team. ?To go out and win a game in that fashion, it says a lot about our team."
Miami quarterback Kyle Wright threw for 278 yards but spent most of the second half running from a fierce Louisville pass rush that sacked him four times.
The Cardinals rallied from an early deficit to take a 10-7 lead at the half on a 56-yard touchdown pass from Brohm to Mario Urrutia. They were marching again on their first drive of the third quarter when Brohm fell on his hand while scrambling.
He got up holding his hand and was replaced by Cantwell, who started two games for the Cardinals last season ? including a Gator Bowl loss to Virginia Tech.
Smith scored on a 4-yard run one play after Cantwell entered the game. On the next possession, Cantwell stepped up and threw a 45-yard strike to Harry Douglass to set up a 1-yard run by Smith that made it 24-7. "I guess emotions got the better of a lot of guys and we went out there and couldn?t back it up on the field," Miami offensive lineman Anthony Wollschlager said.

The Letter I Sent With My Returned Season Tickets To Paul

Dear Paul,

Please find enclose the remainder of my three season tickets as well as the stubs from the FSU and FAMU games. I can no longer in good conscience attend any further games as I believe my presence will be taken as support of HC Coker. As you will see my account with the Hurricane Club has been active for nearly 26 years with these season tickets in my name since 1986. I know this action on my part will have no bearing on the University's decision to part ways with Coach Coker, however I urge you to consider the depth of my disatisfaction when reviewing the state of affairs in the AD.

Please feel free to give these tickets to any less fortunate fan who may not be able to afford to attend the games.

Regards,

Bob Young

This is just sad From Omar's blog

Fellow Canes Fans-

I am a former academic counselor at the University of Miami. I was in this position from 1997-2004. I eventually left because of better opportunities at another institution. I will tell you this: I was not a big wig at UM, I did not attend major fund raising or booster meetings, but I did have the priveledge of attending "Academic Directional" meetings on a number of occasions. These meetings were desgined to plot the future of the academic programs at UM. And you have my word that out of the 5-6 of these get together I attended at least on 3 occasions the subject of how to deemphasize the UM football prgram was brought up. It was not acted upon, as even academic officials understand the cash cow the program is. However, there are numerous "potential" contingency plans on the table and in discussion about how UM can proceed to remain nationally visible and limit the importance of football at UM. Whether you want to believe it or not, and Omar if you want a big story to write you should be on this, there are VERY powerful individuals at UM who DESPISE the football program. They simplt cannot get over how corrupt the program was run in the 1980's and early 1990's. They believe that UM can never reach the institutional prestige that it can while the football prgram still plays such a big part. And to some extent they are right. If perception is reality, then many people around the country still thing UM as a college is a joke with a football team full of "retards." Even if that is not true anymore, the perception remains. The program that UM will increasingly try to emulate is the University of Virginia. Do not be surprised if Coker is retained after this season. UM cannot afford to buy him out and then higher a big name. If indeed Coker is relesed and bought out, UM will NOT be hiring a monster name in college football. Look for a career position coach to fill the void and increased academic standards for athletic recruits are also scheduled to be implemented within 3 years as I understand it. Great moves for the University, but perhaps not so great for the football team. Remember the conference they are in now, there is TREMENDOUS pressure from the Duke's, UVA, and University of North Carolina for programs like UM and FSU to change the image and become major academic institutions, not competitors for the NC. Just my 2 cents, don't shoot the messenger. But football at UM IS over as you know it and had nothing to do with losing to Louisville.
