Miami Dolphins at Cleveland Browns, Sept. 8th, 1pm ET, CBS

At least we didn't pull a Tampa Bay
Well, we kind of are. In a grander sense. The Bucs are the benchmark for NFL futility. They had 12 straight 10 loss seasons from '83-'94. I don't see any way these losers avoid #6 in a row this year, and aside from the '07 anomaly, this will be 10 in 11. They could easily reach that 12 in a row...and this will be year 11 consecutive out of the playoffs. The clowns are the modern-day benchmark for ineptitude and they're a long way from breaking free from it.

I meant what they did today

Didn't watch the game but why on earth did Trent Richardson only get 13 carries? I have him in both fantasy leagues.

I don't agree with 13 carries, but the OL was getting blown up the whole day and there weren't many holes to be had. Richardson never really hit the LoS with a head of steam. They need to find a way to get him the ball in space. When Richardson was able to get the ball past the DL he probably averaged 10 yards per play.

I would say run some screen passes, but the Dolphins seemed to sniff those out as well probably largely due to the OL getting destroyed.

I think it's pretty well established that Cousins is the worst starting OL in the NFL so he at the very least needs to move to the bench with Gilkey or the waiver wire guy taking the start next week.

Schwartz was the only guy that I watched for technique since Wake seemed to be running circles around him. He was getting beat on his first step most of the time. It seemed like Wake was just speed rushing around the outside, but Schwartz was setting like he thought Wake was going to give him an inside move. I don't know if Wake is strictly a speed rusher or if he has a good inside move as well, but Schwartz needed to get a bigger first step to try to stay in front of Wake better. The goal should have been to make him take the speed rush deep enough that Weeden could step up in the pocket and get crushed by the guy Cousins missed the block on.

Overall I thought the Browns offense fell back into the same problems they've had for years. With Gordon suspended they didn't have anyone to stretch the field so the Dolphins only had to defend 15 to 20 yards knowing that the rush was going to get to Weeden before receivers could get open down the field. At the end of the game the Browns were keeping so many blockers in that the couple WR's weren't able to get open. That's why it seemed like Weeden had more time to throw, but wasn't able to find anyone to throw to. Still don't know why he threw it away on 4th down at the end of the game, but if I got knocked down by NFL D-linemen 30 times in a 3 hour period I probably wouldn't be thinking straight either.

I'm not going to put any blame on the defense. They stopped the run and had a lead at the half. They were just on the field so much that they got worn down. Sure they have holes at CB and FS, but adding Rubin and Mingo back into the front 7 will hopefully make the pass rush that much better. Haden all but shut down one of the best WR's in the game. Hopefully the defense will be at 100% for the Ravens next week.

This game should be a learning exercise for the offense so they can see what they screwed up and fix it. The key needs to be to get Richardson the ball in space whether it be on the run or pass. It doesn't matter how many times you give him the ball if he is making his first cut 2 yards deep in the backfield every time. With how well Sheard has taken to OLB that first round pick might have been better used on Warmack rather than Mingo.

Yeah. Had we any indication Sheard would cut down to 255 and transition so well, Warmack would make a difference of night and day.

I'm even eating a bit of crow. He's still a good pass rusher - but he's moving much more fluid in space than last year. Dropping that weight really helped.
