I argue he is a huge Douche Bag. I really think that if I had ESPN's money backing Me I could do 10 x's a better job than he does.

<!-- start content -->Mel Kiper, Jr. (born July 25, 1960) is a football analyst for ESPN known for his knowledge of college football and the NFL draft as well as his distinct hairstyle. He has served as an analyst for ESPN's annual NFL draft coverage since 1984, providing in-depth information on the nation's most talented college football players.
Kiper is president of Kiper Enterprises, which he founded in 1981 while in college. It is responsible for all aspects of a series of annual publications including the "NFL Draft Report" and "Draft Preview."
With the launches of ESPN2 and the ESPN.com, Kiper has become more and more visible, and has made the NFL draft, a weekend event in the spring, a year-round event. Kiper has said that Ernie Accorsi, the General Manager of the then Baltimore Colts, was a good friend who basically encouraged Kiper to become a draft analyst. He told Kiper that fans would crave that type of information and that Kiper should take it public and turn it into a business.
In 1994, then Indianapolis Colts general manager Bill Tobin once commented, "Who the hell is Mel Kiper? My mailman knows more about the draft than he does." Kiper had critized the Colts' choice of Trev Alberts over Trent Dilfer in that year's NFL entry draft.
Kiper is most proud of the picks and projections he got right, which are few and far between. He had quarterback Jeff George of the University of Illinois projected to go at pick number 84, and George was picked as number 1 overall by the Indianapolis Colts and went on to be one of the biggest busts and problem personalities in the NFL. Kiper had Notre Dame quarterback Rick Mirer projected to go at pick number 30, but he was picked at number 2 overall by the Seattle Seahawks and went on to have a mediocre career primarily as a backup with several teams, including the New York Jets. He also admits to his failures, especially in thinking that Heisman trophy winner and University of Houston quarterback Andre Ware would be an excellent NFL quarterback and a great match for the Detroit Lions, but Ware was another huge flop in the NFL.
Kiper grew up in Baltimore continues to reside there with his family. He attended Calvert Hall College High School and Essex Community College. He never partipicated in football on any level in high school or college.
