I don't have any problems with Kiper, he knows his shit better than 99% of the other Internet pundits and is correct about 25% of the time -- in that respect he's got a better track record than half of the NFL GMs.
Nobody can be a "guru" when it comes to projecting how a 20-something college player will do in the pros. The systems, the circumstances, the players' health, the fans' reception are all a crapshoot anyway.
For all anyone knows David Carr could be Joe Montana, but until the Texans' find 10 O-Linemen it won't matter.
Look at the 2000 NFL Draft: at the QB position the Jets took Chad Pennington in the 1st round, the 49'ers took Giovanni Carmazzi out of Hofstra (?!) and the Ravens took Louisville's Chris Redman in the 3rd, the Steelers took Tee Martin in the 5th, the Saints took Marc Bulger in the 6th, the Browns took SW Texas State's Spergon Wynn (?!?), leaving the Patriots, with the 199th pick, some schmoe named Tom Brady.
Bottom line: Who the hell knows?!
