Me trying to be a thief

I would assume that if you put all your money in the bank, it's safe.

The thief protection is curious, though... I purchased thief immunity, and I see that it's only been purchased once. A lot of other people are protected, though, and it seems to be sort of random - some of them have money in the bank, others do not... huh.

Yea I tired to steal about 120 vCash from BB73 and it says that he is protected or something.

Thievery, as I understand it, is sort of a game of chance. There's a fairly high likelihood of failure (what that rate is, I don't know, and probably wouldn't say if I did). I don't think money in the bank is necessarily safe. I believe that's just a place to draw interest, but I can't swear to that either.

Basically, it's an undocumented bit of software, and we're going to have to feel our way through. Hence my caveat in the announcement.

As everyone can tell from the posts above, if you fail on a steal attempt, you lose the amount of money you tried to steal. I'd like to think that amount goes to the person you tried to steal from, but I can't confirm that yet.

Writing up documentation for the store could be a project for someone. Could even be something they could get paid, say, 2k points for, if it were well put together.

I wouldn't mind doing it. But I would have to get the cash to try out the features.:wink2:

Naw just kidding on the last part. But I would be interested in writing something up about it.

I'd be down with writing some stuff. For now, let me experiment a bit to figure some of this out...

Speaking of thievery...

I had 6943.96 in vCash and figured I'd deposit a llittle bit to make some interest for next season's vBets. I chose to deposit 43.96 so I'd have a nice round number left without depositing too much. What do I end up with? 6899.99!!! I'm missing a vPenny!

JOANNA
So you're stealing.

PETER
Ah, no. No. You don't understand. It's, uh, very complicated. It's, uh,
it's, it's aggregate so I'm talking about fractions of a cent that, uh,
over time, they add up to a lot.

JOANNA
Ok. So you're gonna make a lot of money, right?

PETER
Yeah.

JOANNA
Ok. That's not yours?

PETER
Well, it, it becomes ours.

JOANNA
How's that not stealing?

 Sweet...

By the way, money from a failed thievery attempts does not go to the intended victim - it simply disappears.

When you give a gift, however, it seems the money spent on the gift is added to the recipient's total in addition to their gift.

Hmm, that latter bit seems sort of odd. I suspect we can tweak things to our liking, however.

Anyone have the black bar like below sticking off of your computer screen like me?

*clarity edit -- html breaking the rest of the page. Screenshot would be better.
