#OhioState has offered Clemson CB commit Juwuan Briscoe

Mind of Mike
Clemson commit Juwuan Briscoe recently picked up offers from Penn State, Ohio State and Florida. Briscoe never took a lot of visits (including Clemson) because of transportation issues, so this could be an interesting situation as he has never truly become attached to the Tigers program as much as other recruits who take numerous visits. While he obviously likes what Clemson has to offer, will he try and check out a few other options before National Signing Day? Official visits to Columbus and Happy Valley are definitely possible and if those happen, the Clemson staff may have something to worry about.

Speaking of Penn State, this is shaping up to be a huge weekend for the Nittany Lions. Heading into a night game against Ohio State, the Penn State coaching staff has lined up an impressive group of visitors, headlined by official visits from both Burrell and four-star defensive tackle Tim Settle, plus visits from other top 2015 targets Ricky DeBerry and possibly recently offered Clemson commit Juwuan Briscoe (mentioned earlier). More importantly, a number of top 2016 targets will be on hand, including Ahmir Mitchell, Jordan Fuller, Jauan Williams, Michal Menet, Naseir Upshur, Parker Boudreaux, Ron Johnson and Justin Layne. This is an enormous opportunity for Penn State, who will definitely have a raucous atmosphere on Saturday night. However, with the Nittany Lions floundering on the field in recent weeks and Ohio State embarrassing opponents during that same stretch, the risk is there that a dominant performance by the Buckeyes might push some recruits towards Columbus.

Quick Hitters
The situation with three-star defensive back Juwuan Briscoe took an unexpected twist over the weekend. The Clemson commit has been steadily reeling in the offers over the last few weeks and over the weekend he took a visit to Ohio State. However, it was not originally known that this visit was actually an official visit. In fact, it doesn't even seem as though the Clemson coaching staff knew about this. Communicating with Briscoe has not been easy, and I mean for reporters, coaches, everyone. So trying to figure this situation out is also not easy, even for the Clemson coaching staff. They obviously knew that he was getting plenty of attention from other schools recently, but not knowing about the official visit definitely made things more serious. Briscoe is supposed to take an official visit to Clemson for the South Carolina game later this month, so we'll see if that happens, and also if he happens to take any other visits in the meantime.

This time of year, a commitment by one recruit can definitely affect other recruits. When five-star safety Rashad Roundtree committed to Georgia over Ohio State last week, the Buckeyes immediately began to target other recruits. One is definitely a familiar name, Juwuan Briscoe, who I've mentioned a few times over the last month or two. While Briscoe, who is committed to Clemson, is seen as more of a cornerback than a safety, he does have the ability to play either at the next level. More importantly, he took an official visit last weekend and came away very impressed with the experience. Other schools are still trying to get into the picture with Briscoe, including Tennessee, South Carolina, Penn State and Georgia, but right now this one is looking like Clemson or Ohio State. The Tigers will have the next opportunity to solidify his commitment as a visit to Death Valley is planned for the South Carolina game. No matter how this visit goes, you can be sure that Urban Meyer won't let up on this situation until National Signing Day if he feels as though Briscoe would be a good addition for the Buckeyes.
