  • Maryland 2025 safety Faheem Delane: “I thought that the OSU visit was great, being able to see the brotherhood after such a hard loss. I talked to coach Eliano and we just talked about the game for the most part and the gameplan.”

Faheem Delane told LSU’s ON3 insider that he will be at Ohio State later this season. LSU insider said this weekend but we don’t have a home game this weekend so I’m assuming he meant the Michigan State weekend.

Delane once again mentioned that he’s looking to commit after his junior season is over so these game day visits are important. When asked his thoughts on this recruitment, their insider said he believes LSU is in the mix and Ohio State is in a good spot as well from what he’s heard.

That's good news, would love to have him onboard after his season is over. We've had several great CB classes lately and likely will in '25 (Woodby, Brew and Sanchez looking promising), so a boarderline 5* like Delane at safety would be huge.

I like McClain a lot and Roker has some upside in the '24 class, but safety is a position we need to have a strong class in for '25 and I wouldn't be surprised to take 3...of course we have Ransom, Proctor and Martinez graduating, but looking beyond that Styles will be a junior next year and it could possibly be his last year here with a good season, Stokes will be a junior (unless he is RS this year), and Carter seems injury prone and doesn't have much eligibility left. So basically the only younger guys we will have at safety will be Hartford, Hawkins, McClain, Roker and to some extent Stokes...Hartford looks like a future star at safety, but the rest are a little more unknown.

But on Delane, he seems really high on OSU and it would be an ideal situation for him to get early PT. He has the tools and size to make an early impact. If we can get him and McNutt, whoever the third may be (whether through the portal or a '25 recruit) is gravy.

Edit: I forgot Bonsu, who I really liked on film. Fact remains that there will be a wide open competition for PT when Delane would come in.
