Word is, fire trucks could not get through to put out some of the 90 or so fires. I remember a few years ago when a student was killed as one of these fires got out of control. Tear gas seems pretty excessive to me, but if this is true, I understand the need to disperse crowds at certain places.

If the students were indeed stupid enough to not yield to emergency vehicles, then they got what they deserved..

Dried pepper spray on Dispatch camera lens..

Police are 'under review' for the force used - video (and article) here shows cops blasting students on the sidewalk from pretty close range - also shows students obstructing emergency vehicles..
