Well, games were blowouts last night, so it was time to do the Infinity War. I’ll do details in the next post with spoiler tags, i don’t know if everyone was doing that primarily for my benefit but I appreciate the shit out of it because it wasn’t what I was expecting going in, so I was somewhat surprised by some things. I am still processing it all, but I will say fuck every asshole critic who reviewed this film. Every one. Because some of the stupid shit I see are things like “you had to see and process all 18 other films to know what was going on”...well no fucking shit Sherlock, this wasn’t an ID4 stand-alone, this was the culmination of about 50 story lines that actually went somewhere and successfully intertwined. This film boldly went where “Super hero” films just don’t go. More on that later. Cast was mostly the same as the other films, but Brolin was such a maestro as a complex and, dare I say measured Thanos, enough compliments can’t be given. I wondered how in the hell they were going to bring everyone together, yet they managed to find clever ways to do that too. A lot of the plot will depend on how they wrap it up in Endgame, but as a cumulative entry, this really couldn’t have been any better. The question of what happens when the bad guy doesn’t just think he’s right, he thinks he’s the good guy? is so hard to pull off, but this film, and it’s uncomfortable ending, did just that.
Ant Man and Wasp: I went into this one thinking I would hate it. For one, it’s in the unenviable cool down spot after IW...kind of like going on at Wrestlemania right after Undertaker/Michaels and before Austin/Rock. Plus I just wasn’t sure where they could go with it. But I have to say this was a decent entry, and I was entertained. I liked the concept of the molecule-shifting girl, even if it wasn’t explored all that thoroughly, and I work with enough super-scientists to know many of them hate each other’s guts just as depicted. On the other hand the douchey villain guy was a zero for me...that guy as a tech dealer? That putz would get scrambled like an egg by the local drug dealer, let alone the people he was supposedly messing with. They dynamic between Ant Man and Wasp was good, and the rest of the characters had some good comic relief. Michelle Pfieffer is always a treat too. I don’t know how crazy I am about pym particles extending to whole buildings, but it keeps it fresh I guess. The post-credit scene is where they had to leave it, so of course it adds to the intrigue as to how they’ll all reunite. Overall a good entry on par with the first one, solid effort for the spot in chronology it was in. Probably rate it slightly higher than the first one for entertainment value.
So I don’t know whether to be proud of myself or ashamed of myself, but...sequence complete. Captain Marvel was today on a day off work. I will do a spoiler detailed thing separately, but suffice it to say that I thought it was entertaining but middling. I feel about it like some have expressed about Black Panther: there’s no denying it’s social and cultural value for little girls everywhere, but as a movie in and if itself I had some issues with it. Actually, several issues with it. Part of that I think stems from creating a new most important character (much to the consternation of certain other cast members, apparently) after 10 years of zero mention, it kind of comes way out of left field. But, I give it a mid range grade as a film, and will keep the rest as spoilers.

. Supposedly Tuesday the 2nd.Been checking everyday waiting for tickets to go on sale
We saw Infinity War the first night in the local old-school theater (they also serve beer there). It was great because of the reactions of the audience. Went the next day to the high-end theater (no beer) and no one said a word throughout. We will be repeating the viewing this time with Endgame.I've never researched more about what theater to go to than I have for this movie (also because I'm living in a new city that actually has choices)
