I know the kid stepped over the line, but what a terrible out of bounds play with 5.5 seconds left.

There was no need to only have two guys up there and no one running back to the ball. With 5.5, you don't need a running start to get up the court. You can get the ball up the court in 4 seconds at this level. Just get it in and let somebody drive.

The coach made it difficult on his kids by having two players simply try to run to each side of the court, 40 ft away.

I know the kid stepped over the line and it was very obvious but if you look back at the season guys grab the ball out of the basket so quickly and get it back into play there are many times when they are not completely out of bounds when they put the ball back into play. I know that this was a different situation but if they're great to call it they should call it all of the time.
