Mark Richt (ex- UGA & Miami Fla Head Coach)

Too bad for those kids... At least we are upset with OSU admissions, not the "clearinghouse bar"...

The '03 year came to a bad close... I think the coaches learned a lesson or two and are moving in the right direction.

I think a kid should have to maintain a 2.5 to be eligible (and have a 2.0 or above the previous quarter). I think part of the problem is the fact some kids think it is "good" to get straight C's...

Wow, I hate to put JT in the Coop category when it comes to recruiting players of questionable character, but the 2003 class is an utter disaster. The class was originally notable for the players who didn't sign - Ohioans Shawn Crable and Prescott Burgess defected to Michigan, and local kid Brady Quinn went to Notre Dame; Stanley McClover decommitted on Signing Day and decided for Auburn; and Turk McBride, James Lee, and Michael Bush all made last-minute decisions against Ohio State. Of the 15 players who did sign, Dareus Hiley, Louis Irizarry, Ira Guilford, and Reggie Smith have all left the program due to criminal activity or academics and Brandon Maupin and Sian Cotton are also probably on their way out; you can also add gray-shirt Cedric Scott to the list of players who never made grades. I guess you can see why the Bucks are even more conscious now about recruiting kids with no academic or character issues.

Nice post. Amusing how people forget about that class and focus on Cooper's instead.

Tressel & Richt (Split from M. Brown)

based on what I've seen Richt can be put in the same category as JT as far as class and character. So we'd best be crossing our fingers because UGA definitely has just as much to offer as us.:)

WTF?

Are you sure your root for OSU? The one in Ohio, Right?

Richt = Tressel in class and character :slappy: I get it you were joking.

I agree 100%. Coach Richt and his wife are wonderful people, Deeply religious and they adopted 2 children from Europe. One with special needs. Richt like JT is one of the good guys in College Football.

Without trying to hijack the thread too much since we are in the recruiting forum, I'll briefly mention that I do not recall any time JT ordered his entire team to get an excessive celebration penalty on the first TD of a game. Nor can I ever picture him doing that in the future. Not in the same category.

My apologies--back to Marlon.

I happen to believe that is true regarding Richt and Tressel. I'm not sure how much, or what you know of Richt, and I'm not going to pretend like I know everything about him either, but I do know enough about the man that he is a stand-up guy with a lot of class and professionalism. Now, are he and Tressel exactly the same? Of course not. But Richt is a standout coach with a program that is consistently strong. He stands for the right things and has proven that he can be an effective head coach in a competitive conference.

I would love to see Marlon Brown in scarlet and grey, but I'm not holding my breath.

That doesn't make coach Richt a bad person, not at all. In my opinion, that's a guy and a coach who is trying to be as creative and inventive as he can be to help boost the confidence of his players in a major rivalry game. I'm not condoning it, nor would I ever expect JT to do that, but I can't fault coach Richt for that.

Besides, Georgia won that game, maybe it worked?? I'm proud to have JT as the head coach of the Buckeyes, but a little creativity never hurt anyone.

Like I mentioned above, I would love to see Marlon Brown with a silver helmet on next season, but Richt and the 'Dawgs are tough competition.

Thank God this got spilt! Now I can say what I want.

[censored] MARK RICHT!!

Ok. Now explain why. Fill me in on why I should despise a seemingly good man that is very involved in numerous Christian organizations, visited the troops overseas, adopted children, and is involved in multiple charities.

We should hate him because he let his kids celebrate a TD?

He once took Bobby Hoying's birthday away.
