Talk about utter nonsense....when is the last time you looked for a job? When is the last time you were a young talented female looking for a job? Most companies can't get out of their own way when it comes to hiring talent. I am sick to death of hearing companies talk about not being able to find good talent. If they do find it they don't know how to treat it right most of the time. I find the leadership and management in most organizations and across the country sorely lacking in talent and mostly idiots. Look no further than the leadership of this Country.
Only been at my current job just over two years, so about 2 years ago was the last time I looked for a job.
Having skills that are in demand in the marketplace, I have been offered several jobs since without applying for them.
Never been a femaie, never felt like a woman trapped in a man's body either.
Underemployment is a serious problem, but the cause isn't racism and sexism, it is lack of opportunity in a crony capitalist / fascist society we live in. Couple this with a massive bubble in higher education that is training as many people as can pay for it with government guaranteed loans with zero regard for the actual demand for those skills and you have lots of college graduates realizing they have been lied to all their lives. It isn't just your daughter, it is widespread and chronic. Until 90% of the universities are permanently closed after the government guarantee of student debt is eliminated and the bankruptcy rights of all Americans are restored, we will always have this problem.
You are right though about companies not being able to hire talent. These HR types are wastes of flesh. One of my proudest moments was firing the HR bitch at my last job and telling her that she could reapply for her job but it would be through a temp agency.
All jokes and whatnot aside, tell your daughter to pick up a book by Jesse Edenbaum or Dick Grossman and learn the plastics business. Bioplastics are big business. That is how I solved my underemployment problem.
One word: Plastic
Agree that most companies top problem is upper management. It is amazing how many plastic companies have zero technical skills. Most tech guys aren't in actual manufacturing anymore, they are at the material vendor and so specialized that they can't solve real world process problems anymore.
