For the record... I'm not exactly salivating over the thought of seeing this, but TLJ is fun to watch even in awful movies - and there have been a few. Maybe I'll wait 3 or 4 weeks until this becomes the CBS movie of the week.

Somehow, I didn't get to Friday Night Lights, but that's definitely one I want to see! Reading the book first, though.
NEVER I repeat NEVER read the book first. It'll just piss you off when you see the movie. It happens to me every time. I haven't read Friday Night Lights. From I've heard, the book is very controversial, and a lot deeper than the movie is. My advice. Watch the movie. Enjoy it for it's entertainment value, then read the book.

As for seeing this queer movie with TLJ and some hot chicks. Why do we insist on watching crap, just because it has some hot chicks in it. I've been guilty of this in the past. Until I found that I was saying "damn she's hot" after every show that I watched. Good or bad. There are so many ridiculously hot chicks on TV and Movies, that you can limit yourself to shit that you think looks good, and still meet your quota of hot chicks. Just say no to crappy shows with hot chicks in it.

What if I just read half the book and then watch the movie? I can never decide which to do first. Oh, the dilemma when the first Harry Potter movie came out...

But you've convinced me on the other part... I won't let my viewing decisions be swayed by the casting of hot chicks. :p

Warning thread hijack.

I was making a "backup" copy of a HP DVD and was having trouble.
I googled ripping HP to see what the problem might be.
I found a few tech links but the majority were all about how disappointing the movie was to people that had read the books. They were tearing the movie apart, along with the actors.

I guess what you see on the screen will never watch what you envision in your mind.
