Have you seen the Bears WRs?

Marvin Harrison - 5

So Olaf, you still abiding by the 24 hour rule with the Saturday night deadline? So if my bid for Harrison doesn't get beaten in 24 hours he is mine? Or we are scrapping that and no one is awarded their players til the deadline?

I prefer the 24-rule simply because I think having deadlines promotes people trying to snipe guys right before the deadline, which is kinda lame in my opinion.

I know some people had concerns about it taking forever, but I don't really think it will. I would be surprised if the "Matt Jones" bidding war didn't end by tomorrow morning at 5:35AM under the 24-hour model.

Also, at the year's end, do signed free agents revert from their auction point values back to their "rating point-system" values, or will they always count at their auction value?

The only issue with the 24 hour rule is that we need to make sure that it expires at a time that's reasonable for everyone (or everyone is awake). JMO

The 24 hour rule has some flaws, that's for sure. I just want to avoid the sneaky signing if you know what I mean. But yes, if no one outbids your bid for Marvin for the next 24 hrs, he's yours.

Here's an idea for after the season. How about a 24 hour rule from the first bid, but the final bid has to be in place for four hours? If I bid for Randy Moss and Piney outbids me 23 hours later, then we have four-hour windows until it's over. We can even include the BP Mock Draft rule that pretty much suspends the countdown clock from 10pm to 8am every night.

I do agree the 24 hour rule should still stand, that's why I bid on Harrison since his 24 hour window was expiring in a few hours.

That is why there is 24 hours. The 24 hours might end at 6am, but you had the 24 hours before that to bid on that player. As the 24 hour clock keeps resetting with every bid.

I edited my response to include your question. I was trying to avoid a double-post, which, because of this response, is now moot.

Really the only flaw in the 24 hour rule is it could extend the bidding. But having a dead set deadline stops that.

I actually like how it is set up in the pre-season here. So my thinking is after the season open up free agency for 2-3 days. The 24 hour rule stands if no one responds to any early bids and then you have the deadline to prevent bidding from going on for weeks.

Hey, he is the perfect 4th/5th WR for my Cardinals since I plan on running a 4WR offense. Just imagine... your a defense... whatcha going to do. Play Dime? I run Beanie up the gut. Play the run? Toss it around to Fitz, Boldin, Harrison and company... :tongue2:

C'mon... you can't run up your post count that way?

Oh yeah, when do you need the cuts if any to get under the salary cap to sign free agents?
