Bought it for 360 today. The first time i played it I didn't think i would like it but as I got the controls down played a hour of practice mode I started to pick up on it. Still not totally there yet but I played last years madden on 360 and this one is leaps and bounds above that one. So hopefully next years versions will really get the job done. BTW being able to be any of the lineman, then making a successful block is quite full filling.

I bought a copy of the 360 version yesterday but I didn't open it. I'm debating on taking it back. I have heard that it is really good but I have also heard that it isn't much better than last year's 360 version. I watched some people play it yesterday at Best Buy and it looked sweet, but I'm going to hold off on opening my copy until I read more reviews.

Of the people who got it yesterday...what would you give it out of 10. I want to get it for 360 but don't know if it is worth the buy.
I've only played one preseason game and a bunch of the drills, but I would rate it highly, probably a 9 or so. The biggest thing keeping it from being a 10, is that you can't edit the rosters, not even players' names or positions. I don't understand why they did this for the 360. It's a big step backwards, IMO.

The game is beautiful though. The preseason game I played was Pittsburgh at the new stadium for the Cardinals, and I was thoroughly impressed with the graphics. The refinement of the detail seems much more sophisticated than what is available on NCAA.

Edit: The controls are the same as they are in NCAA, so you don't have to deal with different controller configurations.

I would probably give it about an 8.3. I hate not being able to edit equipment but it might be possible that they will come out with a patch for the game because i read on the ign review that the online play right now lags real bad and they are coming out with a patch for that. But everytime i play it seems like it gets a lil better.

I got a hold of it for the 360, and I'll give it a 6.5/10.

It gave me a poor impression before I event started my first event. The GUI is confusing as hell. Even after 2 or 3 hours of playing the game, I haven't completely grasped the concept of the menu system. Some of the items are also difficult to read, but I'm sure that's cleared up on an HDTV (like PGR3).

I started out making a "Superstar." I think this mode has some strong points, but could use some improvement. The way you determine what position your superstar will play is laughable. It all depends on the careers of your parents? So what you do is randomize your parents' careers, hobbies, and IQ's, and hope that the combination will result in you being the position that you desire, it took me 10min to get a MLB. Every so often you'll luck out, and your father will have played football, in which case, you'll be assigned whatever position he had. After that, there is the actual create-a-player mode, that is actually quite nice. It's no Tiger Wood's create-a-player, but there are plenty of very realistic facial models. You don't get to edit any equipment though (although you can if you create a character outside of the "superstar" mode).

After you got your guy set, you have workouts and the combine, to "try out" for different teams. The three mini-games involved here can be frustrating, but after you get through the learning curve (took me 3 or 4 tries), they aren't too bad. Once drafted, the games can be a little boring. You sit out any play that your man isn't on the field, but it runs the game at 2x speed while you wait. This can be nearly unbearable if you selected a position other than QB or HB. When you are playing, you're thrown into the "3rd Person" camera, just like on kick returns in the newest NCAA. I personally can't stand it, as it completely eliminates the concept of peripheral vision. You also don't get to pick a single play, which is a big drawback for me, even though it does make sense.

So, after growing impatient with the Superstar mode, after one pre-season game, and a regular season game, I decided to try out a Franchise. But then I realized that there was no "Fantasy Draft" option, so I just quit.

But, features aside, game play was okay. I'm more used to NCAA on the regular Xbox, and the controls still feel awkward. The way the players move, run, and turn also feel weird. Controlling the defense made me feel incompetent. But, I think it's just me being used to NCAA. Maybe in a few days I'll manage to get used to it.

Graphically, the game is nice. And I'm sure it would look a thousand times better on a decent TV. The player models are great, with very realistic movements. Although, it seems every player on the field is build like a large linebacker, including the kickers. The game knows it looks good, and likes to show it off, "cutting" the camera in-between plays to show off a certain section of the stadium, or the QB approach the line.

But yeah, if you're a Madden fan, you'll probably buy this game regarless of reviews. But if you didn't play the first 360 version much, I suggest a rental before dropping $60 on it.

**EDIT**
I just remembered, the online play was unbelievably laggy.

Copied from my post on JJhuddle

PLaye da little last night....here are my impressions

Pros

1.Superstar mode. This is pretty much for the hardcore enthusiast or former player, like strappin em back on and getting back out there. Love the camera angle changing per position...but will take some getting used to.

2. Graphically it has been polished up a lot, and the sounds are great. When playing Indy for example t was actually Peytons voice caling the signals.

3.Gameplay is fun. I like it alot, even without fantasy draft. The dpeth of the game is great even without that. I love working to get to the HOF.

Cons

1. Superstar mode is pretty difficult (at least to me) to run the 40. Th efastest I clcoked was like a 5.98 with a QB.

2. No commentary. We need Al and John. The stadium announcer just doesnt hack it.

3. Owner mode is gone. I didn't use it alot, but I know alot of people who thought it was a great feature.

Overall thusfar I would say A- or an 8.75/10. Gamepro even stated that the 360 version is better than all the others, so you can't be going wrong with buying it. There is an amoutn of peripheral vision with the right stick in superstar but it is slow to act. I created the San Francisco buckeyes by trading for a ton of Bucks (and Vince young...who is in fact unstoppable). I like the game overall and think it is light years ahead of 06...but i couldve crapped on a cd jammed it in your 360 and it wouldve been better than Madden 06<!--/Text-->

No way NCAA is the way to go the gameplay is better.
this is the first year I can bear the ncaa gameplay... madden has been way ahead for years. Note, this is about gameplay, and not the overall game (ie dynasty mode), where NCAA is better.

Way too much stupidity and arcade-ish stuff in NCAA... defenses are a lot smarter in madden and you don't have a guaranteed broken tackle with a pulsing impact player (I'm glad to see that guarantee went away this year).

Kid gets Madden porn shock

A 14-year old boy in the US got more than he bargained for when he booted up Madden NFL 07.

The Xbox 360 version of the game was a Christmas gift to Kolton Mahoney but rather than being met with images of the sport, when he booted the disk he was treated to an explicit image.

Although reports aren't too clear (the usual problems of non-gaming journalists reporting on games) on the actual content of the disk, it sounds though that a porn DVD had been mistakenly embossed with the Madden print on it and then boxed as a game. Which would be a duplication plant error.

Kolton's parents Time and Linda have contacted Utah's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to investigate how the pornography got onto the disk.

"We'll get rolling on it," the excellently named Lt. Rhett McQuiston told the Standard-Examiner. "The incident may be the first of its kind in Utah, he said. "If somebody is doing this, we want to stop it. The hard part will be finding out who did it. We'll give it a shot. I would go through the roof if this happened to my kid. Whoever did this is a complete and utter coward."

According to Linda Mohoney the game was factory sealed and purchased from a Circuit City store in California. The couple aren't seeking big money from a settlement, just a genuine copy of the game for their son and the reassurance that this problem has been solved and no other kids will be exposed to such smut.

Electronic Arts says it is investigating the incident.

The biggest surprise about this story is that a 14-year old boy didn't want to keep the porn DVD instead of a copy of Madden.
