  • Living in Texas, especially in Austin as a sports fan its a law you get your fill of UT info. I gotta say the press conference Mack Brown gave yesterday was stunning to me atleast. Transcript http://www.texassports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/102510aaa.html. Video http://www.texassports.com/allaccess/index.html?media=203152. I'm not sure either of these capture what was said to the print media, during which time Mack proceeded to throw all his assistants under the bus and basically said their job is on the line. Everyones favorite expansion writer Chip Brown has a article about this on $http://texas.rivals.com/barrier_noentry.asp?ReturnTo=&sid=&script=content.asp&cid=1144097&fid=&tid=&mid=&rid=

Maybe someone who listens to JT's PCs could tell me has he ever done this? I don't see JT doing this even if his team is 0-6.

Mods please feel free to move or edit this if you see fit.

People may disagree, but I've never been that impressed with Mack Brown as a coach. I think he's a good recruiter and he's in a great situation, being the coach of the flagship university in a football talent-laden state like Texas. He's lacking experienced, talented players this year, so the loss against OU is understandable. But the home losses to UCLA and Iowa St. are inexcusable.

I haven't either, but he doesn't seem as snakelike as Saban and others here below the Mason-Dixon line. I'm just still shocked at some of the things he said like when asked about an offensive player, You'll have to ask Greg [Davis] that he works with those players.... it was stunning. He calls himself the CEO but he sounds like the CEO of Enron, JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers.... oh i don't know whats going on below me so quit bothering me with these questions. No matter how tired, frustrated or pissed Tressel gets, I don't see him doing this, now behind closed doors yes, but not in public.

    Here's a stat:

Mack Brown lost more home games this season than Bob Stoops has lost in 12 seasons at Oklahoma.

It's true - '01 Bedlam and the '05 opener against TCU is it. Twice Stoops has lost 5 games without losing one at home.

I wonder if they'll broadcast that trivia on the Godzillatron?

But getting whacked by UCLA -- giving up 35 points -- at home -- then coming up short against Iowa State and topped off by losing to Baylor -- in the Big Ten that would be the equivalent to losing to Indiana and Northwestern and an OOC loss to a Big East team in the same season.

Would that this would have been the two years we scheduled them for a home and home.

Did Mack throw his DC -- and hand picked successor -- under the bus too?

    Yep,

didn't get a chance to listen to the PC... but just listening to the talking heads... the Offense is just as good as last years except the turn over problem... its the defense thats really gone down hill since last year. Shaggy Bevo does a good job of summing some of this up... http://www.shaggybevo.com/board/showthread.php/76043-Mack-s-press-conference-transcript...?p=2198987&viewfull=1#post2198987

I'm happier than a pig in [censored] right now... The Browns have more wins than the [censored]ing Cowboys (who are going to be a disaster for a long time) .... and now Mack (VY won the championship inspite of me) Brown is losing his marbles.... this is [censored]ing priceless..almost makes it worth surviving the 6 weeks of 100+ degree days....

This will make for a very interesting off season... Muschamp is gone... will he go to Georgia... who will can their coach at a shot at him... I'd love to see him take a position coach here at tOSU but that aint happenin

a little easier when you play your biggest rival and best competition on a neutral field every year.

That's quite true - but comparing Brown to Stoops is legit since they share that same avoidance of home losses to their top rival.

And losing more home games in a few weeks than the other guy's lost in 12 years is an amazing contrast.

To say Greg Davis resigned is being generous since the folks over at Shaggybevo were celebrating the news that he'd been fired last week.

This is Mack Brown allowing a loyal staff to exit gracefully, but I have no doubt they were all fired. The natives wanted heads on pikes, so Brown had to serve them up something.

    Texas BBQ style?

I dunno - what's with HC's thinking they're the cat's meow, and firing everyone under them?

Coker did the same thing, and all we ended up with, was less of the valuable assistants - he was run off anyway, rightly so...

Yeah this had been pretty much made official by UT's Mouthpiece (Chip Brown) last week... There was talk of the S & C coach (Maddog something, the dude that J Hicks's mother knew) getting canned as well... They "fired" their OC/QB Coach, O-Line, & D-Line coach... will be interesting to see who they replace them with... Will it be Mac's choice.. or is Muschamp pretty much telling the AD ... this is my choice .. or I'm out.
