Given the number crunch in the '16 class and the uncertainty there with two days to go, it's impossible to say what will happen in '17, but there will certainly be a numbers crunch again.

I was out of town this evening, so I wasn't around to post right away. That said, Bowden had already established a strong connection with Indiana as they were the first school to offer him. On Friday, I had a feeling that something was going to happen soon because during WGH's basketball game against Massillon Jackson (Bowden plays guard), it was said that he was going to visit IU the next day. Sure enough it happened & I'm beyond happy for him.

At the very least, Bowden is WGH's biggest playmaker since Mario Manningham (c/o 2005), which is saying an awful lot. The Hoosiers got a steal with this one.

That's easy for you to say about a decision that won't have a direct impact on your life. You'd be hard pressed to find a better skill player in Ohio than Bowden. He's done more than enough to intrigue Ohio State. There was interest, but for whatever reason, no offer was made, so he focused on the schools that offered and nobody pushed harder than Indiana. Smart decision by them.

I don't blame Lynn for going where he is wanted. It certainly wasn't probable that OSU would or could offer. They really don't have any room yet for about 50% of their 20 man class, and they have some incredible talent leaning their way, especially at WR. Grimes, Harris and Lindsey are OSU leans (the first two are virtual locks) and there are a host of other very good WRs that really like them (that might not get a chance to sign with OSU either).

It speaks to the class situation, not Lynn's talent. Indiana has done some really nice things on offense and I expect we'll hear his name down the road.

It's almost a year away from when he signs on the dotted line. Many other Ohio kids who wanted Ohio State offers, including Darron Lee, attended multiple camps over the summer and earned them.

Regardless of whether he wanted to camp for an OSU offer, he's almost certainly going to get better offers than Indiana in the year between now and signing day.

The whole point of the phrase 'patience is a virtue' is that sometimes it's hard to be patient.

Edit: That said, I think he can do just fine at Indiana. They have a dynamic offense that will utilize him well and he can be a featured star for them capable of putting up big numbers.

Understood, but every recruit doesn't feel the need to go the extra mile to impress certain schools when they've already done enough to gain quality interest from others. Production wise, Bowden rushed for as many yards & TDs in one year at WGH as Maurice Clarett did in his first two.

Clarett's sophomore & junior seasons- 282 carries for 1904 rushing yards & 23 TDs (25 total TDs)
Bowden's junior season- 179 carries for 1,901 rushing yards & 21 rushing TDs (31 total TDs)

I can't remember if Clarett had to camp at Ohio State before he got an offer, but I'm pretty sure that Mario Manningham didn't. Not saying that Bowden is above camping out for an offer, but honestly, it shouldn't have come to that unless there are other issues. Who knows? A lot happen over the next year, but as of right now, Indiana arguably has Ohio's best athlete committed to them for 2017.

I don't have a dog in this race but I cringe when I read sentences such as this. It gives off a vibe that a kid just settles and doesn't want to continue to put work in. Like they feel what they have already done entitles them to what they "deserve." My guess is that this isn't even the case with Lynn at all and if he truly wants to go to Indiana and play B1G football while receiving a free education, that is a choice that 99% of kids his age don't get. I can't knock him for that, though I also agree that many other schools will still come calling and I am curious if Indiana will be his "final answer."

I just dont believe it's a case of...

"Well, I got an Indiana offer, that's enough for me!" *hold grudge against other schools for not showing deserved love in this crazy-many factors come in to play-a year away from signing day-world of recruiting*

I do believe that the "I've already done enough" attitude isn't one that you really want to give off in the recruiting game if a kid has aspirations of attending more big time schools and he just hasn't received the offer that he wants yet.

*Again, not saying this is how Mr. Bowden feels. Just my response to some speculation that maybe that could be how he feels.

Taking Ohio State completely out of it, the chances are high that Bowden will get better offers and start feeling the love from many additional schools over the next year.

Committing now to Indiana will create an uncomfortable situation in the future if he wants to explore the other offers that will almost certainly be coming.

The coach that recruited Bowden is from Youngstown, so they established a strong connection. Plus, he also had offers from Michigan & WVU, so it's not like he "settled" for Indiana. His family seems very happy, which makes me very happy. At the end of the day, that's all that matters.

FWIW, Shane Wynn is another great athlete that became a Hoosier & he went on to have a solid career. He was one few the best high school athletes that I've ever seen. Bowden has since joined him on that list. Not sure why Ohio State held out on offering. I could compare, but I don't want to knock any other recruits (or at least make it seem like I am).
