LSU Tigers named as an early school to watch for one of the top defensive players in the transfer portal
Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are expected to be very active in the transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2.Kiffin effectively used the transfer portal to build elite rosters while at Ole Miss.
A big part of the reason Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU is because it’s easier to build a championship roster in Baton Rouge via high school recruiting.
Kiffin, however, is still going to use the portal to improve LSU’s roster this offseason.
LSU named an early school to watch for one of the top defensive players in the portal
On3’s Pete Nakos pointed out LSU this week as an early school to watch for Rutgers transfer cornerback Bo Mascoe.
“Sources have told On3 that LSU is one of the early schools to know for Bo Mascoe, who is the No. 5 cornerback available in the portal at the moment, according to On3,” wrote Nakos on Tuesday.

Update: LSU starting OL returning after brief portal entry
For about 50 minutes it looked like LSU and new coach Lane Kiffin were preparing for a compete overhaul of the offensive line, but instead were able to re-sign redshirt freshman tackle Weston Davis to a new deal after he initially appeared in the transfer portal on Sunday morning, CBS Sports' Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz have learned.The former four-star recruit from the 2024 class started 10 games this season.
Davis is one of six LSU offensive lineman that started in at least six games this season:
- Josh Thompson (out of eligibility)
- Braelin Moore (trending toward return)
- Weston Davis (returning)
- Tyree Adams (portal)
- Coen Echols (portal)
- Paul Mubenga (portal)
Just sayin': It took about 50 minutes in the portal for the LSU bagman to show up at Weston Davis' residence......

as bad as our OLine has been the last few years, I'm surprised any of them were ordered any deals.
and honestly, Davis was the worst of a very bad group.

If anything he probably came back because he realized that no one was going to offer him what he wanted to get in the portal.

Is Desmond Williams supposed to be the depth piece? Spending $12M on two starting QBs for 1 year seems so lane kiffin.
